It is with sadness that we announce that Stephen Andrew (Andy) Hrycyshyn died peacefully on December 23rd at the age of 82.

Andy is survived by his brother Zenon (Danny) Hrycyshyn with wife Penny; his sons Richard and Henrick; granddaughters Sarah and Hayley.

Andrew was born on December 31, 1942 in Montreal and graduated from Sir George William University with the class of ’67. After retiring from IBM Andy and his family moved to Vancouver Island and settled in Parksville where his love for the outdoors allowed him to pursue his enjoyment of kayaking and fishing. He was also an active member of St. Mary Ukrainian Orthodox Church in Parksville where he looked forward to volunteering for different projects.

A funeral service will be held at the Ukrainian church in Parksville. Father Roman will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Andrew’s life. After burial at the Yates Cemetery a small reception will be held back at the church.

Andy will be fondly remembered for his kind, gentle and loving spirit that made it easy to make friends everywhere he went.

We will miss you, Andy.
