Stanley's obituary
Stanley J. Spacek, loving husband, father, ‘Grand Stan’, brother, uncle and friend, went to be with our Lord on September 4, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1934 on a farm in Richmond, Texas. He earned his way through college with athletic scholarships and summer jobs as a roughneck and longshoreman. After receiving a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from The University of Texas in Austin, he became a Registered Professional Engineer in Alabama and Texas and joined the Army Ballistic Missile Agency/NASA where he directed the design and installation of cryogenic storage and transfer systems at Cape Canaveral launch sites from the first U.S. Explorer satellite to the Saturn V lunar rocket. He also organized and administered the education program for the Neighborhood Youth Corps of the Madison County, Alabama, Community Action Association on a voluntary basis.
Stan returned to Houston where he held leadership positions in land development, banking, oilfield equipment manufacturing and distribution, military equipment manufacturing, and petroleum equipment exporting businesses. He was also a Private Single Engine Pilot. He later retired to become active in options trading, golfing and traveling.
Stan was preceded in rest by his parents John and Millie (Nedbalek) Spacek, and his brother Robert Spacek. He is survived by his wife Ruby; daughter Vickie Mason; sister Celestine Spacek; stepchildren Mike Dorsey and wife Patty, and Susan Daniels; nephew Kent Spacek and niece Lana Kettler and family; and many cherished extended family members and friends.
The family thanks everyone for their caring thoughts and prayers. Stanley's life will be remembered and celebrated during a ‘potluck’ Memorial Service at Atria Assisted Living in Sugar Land on Friday, September 26, 2025 at 1:00pm in the Club Room.
