Stanley's obituary
On June 3, 2922, our brother, Stan Huys, took his last breath. He succumbed to cancer at his home in San Marcos. He was 70.
He loved old country western music, like Merle Haggard songs, baseball hats from places he visited, and motorcycle trips to Montana, Idaho and Paducah, Kentucky.
Stan was a 1969 Hoover grad and married his high school sweetheart, Brigid, in 1974. They had no children and the marriage ended after a few years.
For many years, he worked in the construction industry in Gillette, Wyoming and in the San Diego area.
Stan had a gentle soul, loved dogs and going out to breakfast at places like Grandpa Allen’s, The Sunrise Café, and The Beach Break in Oceanside. He had hiking friends, high school biking buddies, Montana friends, and he even kept in contact with some of his former girlfriends.
He was the son of Vince and Verda Huys, deceased, and is survived by a sister, Marcia Huys, in Alb. NM, and a brother, Brad Huys, in San Diego, CA. He has various Huys, Johnson and Sanders cousins in Idaho, Nevada and California.
Here is an example of his deftness with writing little ditties, which accompanied a bottle of wine as a gift for a hiking buddy.
“Knowledge of wine
Not a talent of mine,
With no malice or deceit
I give you Bare Feet.”
There is no memorial service planned, as we had a belated birthday party for him, with friends and family. He will always be remembered for his good nature, easy laugh and twinkly-eyed smile.
