Oh, Chantal, It broke my heart that Gerry & I could not make it to Eric’s Celebration of Life yesterday; we had so looked forward to being with you & family & friends to remember him and your wonderful years together.  We can’t help but feel your loss, yet so admire your strong beautiful faith as you go forward with the enrichment of your life together: your precious time with him.

Dede & Gerry

Dearest Chantall and Family, We send our sincere condolences to you at this sad time. Eric was a wonderful person and a true gentleman. He will be missed at Alliance Francaise. May he rest in peace. God Bless you all.

Oh Chantal,

I am so sorry for your loss. I’m so glad you got to go to Paris together last year. Please accept my condolences. You were so lucky to have each other.

Je t’embrasse,

Jeanne

My prayers are with you and for you and your family.  I had the pleasure of working with Eric for 15 years at the Monterey County Assessor's office.  Your husband was always so helpful with the front line clerical staff.  I am so sorry for your loss but be comforted by the truth of Psalm 34:18  "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted"

I’m so very sorry to hear of Eric’s passing. I had the honor of knowing him through the Alliance Française. It was a pleasure to see him at the various gatherings, especially on the walks and hikes that he and Chantal organized. He was a kind, intelligent, and interesting person who will be greatly missed. My heartfelt condolences go out to Chantal and all who loved him.

I have so many great memories of Spence.  He was such a good friend.

When I worked at the City of Salinas, I used to take a break from my desk and walk a few blocks.  I used to see Spence at the County courthouse sometimes.  I recognized him from playing tennis at Sherwood Tennis Center.  Then one day I asked him if he would like to join me for a short walk.  He said yes and off we went.  Along the way I asked him what his last name was and he said Bailey.   I asked him if he was related to Kevin Bailey and he said, "Yes he's my brother."  We were both surprised.  Kevin was a friend of mine at Salinas High.  We were on the track team together and went skiing together.  Anyway, that was the start of my great friendship with Spence.  We miss him so much.

My sincere condolences to Chantel and the family may strength and courage help you and your family  move forward.

Eric has been such a beautiful person to Chantal and a loving giving person to everyone around. For the years Leo was able to have him as a grandpa we are so grateful for his insight the times he was able to be around him .

May he know he lived a long active healthy life and we will all be aboard his journey at one time or another.  May your soul and light be smiling down from heaven upon all who adored you.

Thank you for bringing  love and safety to Chantal’s and her family.

After 2 weeks without him, I keep coming back to the wonderful memories we had together. We would have celebrated 16 years of married life on October 24th.  We had traveling plans for the near future, going on a bike tour in Vermont, then Quebec with family.  Eric left peacefully, quietly, just as he lived. He died in my arms, so suddenly, a cardiac arrest. After many attempts to revive him, we all realized that his last breath and heart beat had given out a while back. I keep thinking he will come back, and want to share my thoughts with him. Well, this is widowhood. Time to grieve, and at the same time look up, live and enjoy the people around me.  Thank you my family and friends for all for your love. I am not alone. I have hope and a future ahead. Eric will always be the one who allowed me to grow, be confident, secure, and give me a safe place to be. Thank you my love for your love!

Melissa Olvera
