🙏🏽Dear God,

I pray for Sophia as she gets adjusted to your heavenly kingdom.

Please welcome her with open arms and embrace her with your love.

She was a kind and loving person, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

I know that she is now in a better place, where she is free from pain and suffering.

Please grant her eternal rest and peace. May she know your love and grace for all eternity.

In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

♥️Dearest Sophia,

You know I love you more than words can say. You were the best confidant anyone could ask for.

Near or far, Love has never had distance for us.

I remember being captivated by your already then swag! You were my traffic captain at Bella Vista Elementary! Even though we are only a year apart, you were giving me motherly type nurturing. I wish you were around the next year that I became captain! I did everything you taught me! Who knew in the years to come you’d start calling me daughter!♥️

We started hanging tough again in our 20’s. I met so many folks through you and made life-long friendships too and vice versa! You were there for me when I thought I couldn’t go on… not even a year after losing D.D.🕊️ Losing Kimi🕊️was conflicting, tragic, broke my heart, my spirit, my whole being. It still hurts, but we all spent so much time together in his last days and I know that was nothing but God gave us that time to cherish forever. That very last time with him was with V. Simms too!🕊️

We’ve shared so many laughs, played good songs and sang them loud and off key with good wine when we cried. We wore Anthony Hamilton and Amerie OUT! You always knew how to make me feel better with some good food and a sleepover like when we’re teenagers! You are the only other person I know like me to love tacos with french fries with guacamole instead of ketchup. In fact, Joe at Mexicali Rose knew to make that for us, or Steak Ranchero! You’d pull seasoning out your purse and make it taste even better.

Then there’s your love for reading! You were my library! I was always able to borrow great reads from you and quickly because most of them, you would finish a book in a few days. We’re still waiting for a movie for “The Coldest Winter Ever” one of your favorite books! TV too! You had me addicted to the show “The Closer” you had a line up Sunday - Friday of all the good shows and I followed accordingly.

Our adventure to go see Jay-Z in LA is one for the books! I remember we got caught in traffic and was in panic that we would be late, but we made it and we had one helluv good time! We didn’t have the technology we have today to capture it and oh how I wish we could’ve caught your joy and excitement singing word for word all the lyrics to all of his songs! You and Cindy stood the entire time lol! I also remember we were excited to see an In & Out Burger sign bc they weren’t in Northern Cali yet, but we couldn’t figure out what exit it was, so we kept going back and forth on the freeway and when we finally found it, it was closed!🤦🏽‍♀️ I think we ended up at Denny’s. It’s moments like this we can cherish forever!

Through each other we have come to know, to love, to grieve, to grow friendships, and share sacred bonds with family (not blood) and our forever “Us Gurlz” and nem! It’s an evident connection that over time has shown, when we need to come together, there is nothing or no one that can break us from it! Even my Dad calls you one of his, but I still don’t know why he calls you “daughter in law” instead of just daughter lol, but we’ve never changed it! We kept our families connected with your cooking! Whether it was my Dad grilling and you on all the sides for soul food Sunday’s at Duane’s or our many holidays spent up where you named “The Hamptons” at Bri’s house! We had soooo much fun! I’ve been looking through all those photos and it brings me so much joy that we shared and mixed in all our families with each other and friends. I wish we could have just one more so you could meet Iniko. Nonetheless sharing her on Facebook kept you just as connected to see her grow. We plan to keep uniting in the years to come annually as a family reunion to celebrate you.♥️

I know your love for Moo Moo! You bragged proudly and publicly to everyone how proud you are of her!

She is gorgeous, smart and will continue to shine!

We’re gonna always be here for her!

Mah! Even in life, living in different states, I’ve missed you terribly. Social Media and messages have kept us connected. It’s knowing now that whenever I come home I won’t get to see you hurts, but I know that you are in a better place now. You are free from pain and suffering, and you are surrounded by love. I don’t even have to tell you who to love on for me in heaven.

Death is disruptive. It is painful even though we know it’s a part of life. I will cherish the memories we shared together forever. When I’m home alone, I can look through literally hundreds of photos to take me back to the best and only a few worse of times to remember. I will always be able to see your smile, your laugh, and feel your kind heart in spirit. Whenever you’re ready come on in Mah and lounge with me like we used to. I’ll leave the light on for you!

I love you in and out, out and in!
