She attended Greensboro High School and later obtained her GED. She furthered her education at Lively Vocational Technical Institution and received her Certificate as an Certified Nursing Assistant. Sonja also worked in various jobs; Tallahassee Developmental Center; Riverchase Nursing Home; and various Private Duty positions.
