Sloan's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sloan Christian Blevins, a truly special man, beloved son, father, and friend. Sloan left Earth too soon on Nov 30, 2024. Born on May 7, 1992 in Johnson City, TN Sloan moved through life with an inspiring grace and determination that touched all who were fortunate enough to know him.
Sloan was an effervescent and charismatic individual who lit up and filled every room he entered. His charm was infectious, his warmth was comforting, and his quick wit always brought smiles (and much laughter) to those around him. His outgoing personality made him friends everywhere he went, oftentimes those friends turning into family. Sloan was a bright light; he was always filled with energy, had a joke for everything, and regularly had a plan for mischief up his sleeve. Sloan had a sense of humor that could only be described as hilarious; Sloan could find the humor in any situation and was so secure in who he was he was always able to laugh at himself. Sloan, never a materialistic person, had a heart filled with gratitude for everything and everyone held dearly to him. Sloan was so filled with love, light, and life. He danced to the beat of his own drum, always the star in his own rodeo of life.
Sloan spent the last decade honing his skills as a pipe welder. Graduating top of his class from Tulsa Welding School in 2013, his talent sent him all over the country where he pridefully showcased his craft. He was an ardent supporter of the Tennessee Volunteers and enjoyed a good glass of Pal’s Peachie Tea. Sloan also had a strong affinity for the outdoors. Whether it was fishing, playing beach volleyball, working on trucks, boating, four-wheeling, doing farm work, or spending time with his pets, Sloan loved every minute of it.
Highest among Sloan's accomplishments were his children, Christian and Gabriel. They are, without question, his greatest joy and his proudest contribution in his lifetime. His enduring love will continue to guide them throughout their journeys.
Sloan was not just a believer in good – he was a defender of it. He often shared the parable of "Sheep, wolves, and sheepdogs," stressing the importance of acknowledging and protecting against evil. In his eyes, he saw himself as a sheepdog, protecting those around him from the wolves of the world. He always rooted for the underdog. His lessons, much like his life, were powerful reminders of the significance of courage and kindness.
Sloan is survived by his parents, Kelley Barrigar Cabrera and Mickey Blevins, and his cherished sons, Christian and Gabriel. He will also be deeply missed by his grandparents, Gary and Nancy Barrigar, and Sheila Poland. He leaves behind many half-siblings, step-siblings, cousins, and dear friends who continue to love and honor him.
A Celebration of Life for Sloan is planned for February 23, 2025 in St. Augustine, FL. All are welcome to come and share in the remembrance of a life well-lived and a young man well-loved. Please reach out to Miranda or Kelley for further details/address of the event.
Sloan's vivacious personality, loving nature, sense of humor, and enduring spirit will be dearly missed. His lessons, laughter, and love will live on in those who knew him, ensuring that his legacy will never be forgotten.
