Skip's obituary

Milton “Skip” Duty

December 31, 1938 –2024(10/6)

Milton “Skip” Duty, eldest son of Roy and Freda Duty of Cheney, Washington, passed away at the age of 85. Born on December 31, 1938, Skip was a lifelong resident of Cheney, where he made a lasting impact on the community and cherished the town he called home.

Skip is survived by his four sons: Terry Duty (Becky), Todd Duty, Shawn Duty, and Darrin Duty. He was a beloved grandfather to nine grandchildren: Brandon, Tarah, Lauren, Rachel, Caitlyn, Michael, Cameron, Colton, and Caden. He also leaves behind four great-grandchildren: Lucas, Parker, Banks, and Emmy, who will carry on his legacy of love for family and the outdoors.

A graduate of Cheney High School, class of 1957, Skip went on to build a career as an engineer at Cheney Telecom, MaBell, where he dedicated 37 years of service. Outside of work, Skip was known for his deep love of hunting, fishing, and spending time with his many friends.

Perhaps most notably, Skip was one of the eight founders of the Cheney Rodeo, a proud contribution that earned him the honor of serving as Master of Ceremonies for the Cheney Rodeo Parade in 2017. His contributions to the Cheney community will long be remembered, and his spirit will be missed by all who knew him.

Skip’s life was one filled with adventure, laughter, and the joy of bringing people together. He will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, and unwavering dedication to his family, friends, and community.

A celebration of life for Skip will be held this Sunday October 13th from 2:00-4:00pm at the Cheney Legion Hall, 116 College Ave

Cheney, WA 99004
