Chester and I had sociology our freshman 1st semester at WIU. He told me about his sister who was a Sigma Gamma Rho and how he was gonna become a Kappa. Mr. COOL 😎 Thats what I called him then. Chester was really a sweetheart and helped anyone he could. I couldn't believe he became a preacher but it fut his personality. I can't believe it'd been a year. Praying for your wife and family. I know he is looking down an smiling at us. 2020 was a rough year but we are here and Chester would want us all to continue living our lives and enjoy it to the fullest.
Dear, Ms. Jackson:

My name is Henny Sidan. I graduated from Kellogg (TMP) in 2009. I only introduce myself to refer to the class-notes post regarding the passing of your husband.

No words are consolation. I can only pray and allow the path of the Lord to prevail. My heart sunk when I read your entry. I thought of the pain and disconnect I felt when my mother passed in June 2020. I couldn’t see her as COVID-19. But alas, this note is not about me.

Scripture offers me remarkable resilience:

But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it, we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Philippians 3:20–21

Ms. Jackson, I am genuinely sorry for the passing of your husband. I pray daily. I do not pray for myself, only others. I will pray for you and all the people your husband impacted.

In close, may the Sunlight of the Spirit embrace you with warmth. May Wisdom shield you. May Providence provide a path. May Grace lift you, now and always.
Kimberly continuing to pray for you, Sirchester and your families. May God bless and keep you.

“The Lord is near to the broken-hearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” Psalm 34:18
About 10 years ago, St. Mark UMC had hosted several other churches to visit with families and provided activities for the youth. We were taking about 20 youth to the downtown Chicago ESPN Zone on a Friday evening. SirChester and I were both chaperones, while SirChester's father Wiley drove the church bus. Included in the crowd were two of the associate pastors sons. Our guest churches were staying at a hotel near McCormick Place. On the way back, we realized that we had left one of the associate pastors sons at the ESPN Zone! SirChester and I informed Wiley and said we needed to go back and get the youth! If you knew Wiley, you were not surprised when he refused and said the youth should have gotten on the bus and his parents would need to come get him! SirChester was almost in tears because we both knew if we left this teen there, we would never hear the end of it! SirChester pleaded with his dad, reasoning why we needed to return and get him. Finally, Wiley relented and we both learned a hard lesson to count and double count when it came to traveling with teenagers! That is one of many experiences I had through knowing and seeing SirChester grown into the man he was and I thank God for giving me time to see this happen.
To Kim, and Family. We are thinking of you, and are in Prayer and Meditation, for you all. Love, Melanye Thomas- Andrews. Former St. Marker, and Inspirational Choir Member♥️
Kim,

My most sincere condolences to you and your family! Sirchester was a wonderful person and we are honored to have had him as a part of our Rush Alzheimer's Disease Center team. From the moment we interviewed him, we knew that he would do great things with us! He started off a bit quiet, trying to get a feel for how we operated but he quickly caught on and took off with great ideas and projects that he wanted to do for our study participants. We are eternally grateful to have known him and worked with him! May God bless and keep your family in His perfect peace and comfort you during the days to come.
My dear brother Sirchester, I remember sitting together and encouraging one another in Hebrew Scripture Studies at Garrett. We shared such collegiality and had some fun. May God comfort your wife and family in your absence as we await to see you again at the Great Coronation! Rest in His presence. 🙏🏿
I taught Sirchester when he was a student at Hales Franciscan HS. He was a good young man. From reading the obituary, it appears that he turned out to be a very good man of God. I offer sincere condolences to his family.

We were both young leaders trying to revive ministry in the ELCA and UM Church bodies. Although we were members of the same fraternity we met through community organizing. In 2009, I invited him to participate in the Last Seven Words at my congregation. His word was I Thirst! He left a lasting impression! He had a way of making the complex simple and relating scripture to your life.
I will always remember Rev Sirchester as the faithful servant he was. As a member of his staff at the Black Methodist for Church Renewal, Inc. Pembroke Institute teaching bible study, his love and devotion was apparent to all. When he was the pastor at Mandell UMC, I once again had the privilege of serving with him. Rev. Sirchester will be surely missed, as he touched as many lives, young and old for the better. Keeping you Kim, family and friends in prayer. So glad I was on his life’s journey.
Our heart and prayers go out to you and your entire family. May the Lord cover you with his spirit.
