I am so sorry for you loss.   I have fond memories of Simon chit chatting with my daughter, Meredith, on the bleachers at Greeley High School.  He was personable and kind.  My deepest sympathies to the entire family.
I was shell shocked when I heard the news of Simon's passing. I still remember your India trip back in 2011, we had great time. I remember when I was on boarded for MAZ, you were a great mentor and extraordinary human being
Dear Narvana and Otis, I'm sending you my deepest condolences for you and your family during this extremely sad time.

My deepest condolences for the great loss of Simon. My heart goes out to Voni, Otis, and Amelie.
Video games, spear fishing, boat expeditions, chocolate haupia pie, BBQ’s at the Kailua homestead…I am lucky to have a treasure trove of Simon memories.  Thank you for the best of times - you will be missed!

It’s taken me a few days to be able to sit down and write this. A few days ago, the world lost a truly unique soul. Simon came into my life through his wife and my best friend. I couldn’t have chosen a better person for her.

Simon was sarcastic, intelligent, innovative, and sometimes even infuriating. But he also was super generous. Last year when I was searching for a new job, he helped me put together my resume and a website without me even asking.

Simon was also a wonderful father. Watching him with Otis building incredible structures for his cars, or helping him design a Pokémon, or answering any question he asked, was beautiful.

I will miss the verbal gymnastics Simon would go through to prove a point or to even make me think about something differently. I will miss our long conversations about his newest endeavor. I will miss the intelligence that exuded off him and infected all of those around him. He elevated every conversation and took you along for the ride.

Simon and Voni had a comfortable kind of love. One without pretense or demands. Being in their presence made you feel like home. I loved watching the two of them interact with each other and was thankful to see my best friend so happy.

I grieve for the life Simon will miss, mostly the stolen moments away from his beautiful children. But I promise to help take care of those kiddos and I promise to help take care of Voni.

I hope he is fishing the seas of heaven and looking down with pride at all the lives he has affected and how they are coming together to help his family. Love you Simon.

Mike and I (Carolyn Korale Hartman’s parents and Duke Hartman’s father in law and mother in law) met Simon and Voni through Duke and Carolyn. I remember Simon extending his hand to help me onto his boat in Hawaii at Duke’s sister Drew’s special 30th birthday party at the dunes. He laughed when I said, “I’ve been on three boats today.” Carolyn told me a sweet story that when Duke and Carolyn face-timed Simon and Voni when they were living in Japan. Voni’s eyes teared up with joy to see baby Zoe. I was very happy to hear about the arrival of their own beautiful children. I send heartfull condolences to the whole family. I know that Carolyn and Duke will keep you all enfolded in the wings of loving friendship. We love you, too. Joan and Mike Korale
