Signe Varco Adas passed away on October 21, 2018 at the age of 76, following a long illness. She died peacefully at home in the company of her family and close friends. Signe is survived by her husband Al Adas, as well as her daughter Siena and son Seaton, who she shared with her former spouse Tom Scarff. Signe leaves two grandchildren, Cale Waldheim and Skylar Scarff, as well as son-in-law Charles Waldheim and daughter-in-law Fran Scarff. She is survived by her siblings Lynne Baran and Beth Bradford and late brother Charles Varco. Signe was born in Lacrosse, Wisconsin on March 31,1942. She completed her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin and moved to Chicago shortly thereafter. Signe built a life on her own terms in all respects as a curious thinker, creative maker, intrepid explorer, and industrious entrepreneur. She built a loving family and was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She co-founded the successful practice Adas/Spatz properties, and was a beloved friend of many in the Evanston community and beyond. She was a wondrous, magnificent person inside and out, we will always remember her beautiful smile, infectious laugh and curiosity for the world.
