Sid's obituary

SIDNEY BURLESON WEIKEL, JR was born in Corpus Christi, TX on March 22, 1941 to Sidney B Weikel and Jessie Marion Bolin Weikel. Sid was preceded in death by his parents and younger brother, Jack Douglas Weikel.

Sid is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mardy (Helms) Weikel; their seven children, Randy C Weikel, wife, Criselda (Lopez), of Humble, TX, Danny G Weikel of Corpus Christi, TX, and Sidney B Weikel, III, wife, Martha (Craig) of Dickinson, TX, Molly Mardale (Weikel) Clark, husband, Jeremy M Clark, of Tulsa, OK, Sally Marlene (Weikel) Holden, of Harwood, TX, Lesley Marion (Weikel) Swierenga, of Gulf Breeze, FL, Ashley Ruth (Weikel) Dorenkamp, and husband, Lance D Dorenkamp of Humble, TX.

He was blessed with fifteen grandchildren, Sebastian, Gabriel and Trinity Weikel of Humble, TX; Daniel, Brooke and Matthew Weikel of Crescent, OK, Katelin and Dawson Weikel of Dickinson, TX, Michael and Steven Arwood and Caeley Clark of Tulsa, OK, Brittany Holden of Corpus Christi, TX, Jarod Holden of Gilbert, AZ, Lily Elle Swierenga of Gulf Breeze, FL and Declan Jack Dorenkamp of Humble, TX.

Sid is survived by his sisters, Shirley Rae (Weikel) Vermillion and Debra Louise Weikel both of Corpus Christi, TX; sister-in-law, Rachel (Yoney) Weikel of Sierra Vista, AZ, nieces Jami Lyn Hoke and Cindi Sue Jacoel, of San Antonio, TX, Jodi D Weikel and Jennifer D. Weikel of Sierra Vista, AZ. G-nephew Jordan Jacoel of San Antonio, TX. Sid’s sister-in-law Donna (Helms) Roth and husband, Ron Roth of Lumberton, TX. His niece, Rachel Roth also of Lumberton and nephew, the late Ryan Roth.

Sid graduated from Flour Bluff High School, Corpus Christi, TX, in the Class of 1959. An athlete and good student, he held Track records for many years, accomplishing State level. Sid attended Del Mar College and the Univ of Corpus Christi.

Sid joined the US Army in 1960. He served at Fort Hood, TX, Philadelphia, PA and Hanau, Germany, He was honorably discharged in Nov 1963. He spent several years in Retail Management traveling to Dallas and Massachusetts, as they married. He then began his 40+ years in Industrial Construction which took him and Mardy to locations across the United States enjoying every minute and making many friends.

Sid retired in 2010 to their Sunset Acres, Harwood, TX and enjoyed building their retirement home, riding the tractor and enjoying the sunsets. He loved building many RC Model Airplanes and flying them to his heart’s content. Campouts with the grandkids and many weiner roasts were enjoyed.

The memories he has left our family will live on forever in our hearts.
