Shonda Harper, a vibrant soul known for her hearty sense of humor and openness to new possibilities, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023. Born on June 13, 1969, Shonda lived a life full of love, laughter, and learning, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Shonda is survived by her loving family: Her mother Dorothy Lopez, her sisters Karon Harper, Chresse Washington, Markeeta Harper and brothers Sean Harper, Walter Matthew Harper. Her children Precious Harper, Naheim Harper, Hope Harper, Dreshon Lamar Hatcher, Daija Dior Hatcher. Her Mother, siblings and children will forever cherish their moments of sibling camaraderie and sisterly love. Her children will greatly miss the love and guidance of their mother. Shonda's loving nature extended beyond her immediate family. She was adored by her friends, colleagues, and community members alike. Her friendly demeanor made her a beacon of warmth and a safe space for many.
Shonda was a great life teacher who candidly shared her struggles and growth with others. She offered aid readily, never hesitating to extend a helping hand to others. Her altruistic spirit and resilience were admired by all, and they remain some of the lessons she leaves behind.
Shonda's most significant accomplishment and source of joy were her children. She was a loving mother who prioritized their growth above all else. Her love for her children was evident in every aspect of her life. Her children were her pride and joy, and they will carry her legacy forward.
In terms of legacy, Shonda's was one of exploration and travel. She was an avid adventurer who encouraged others to explore everything life has to offer. Through her travels, she promoted the spirit of curiosity and the wonders of self-discovery. Her desire to learn and grow will continue to inspire those she left behind.
A Celebration of Life for Shonda will be held on September 9, 2023, at 2:00 PM at Marquette Park District. All are welcome to attend and commemorate Shonda's beautiful life. Flowers, donations are being accepted in honor of "Shonda's Legacy". Funds raised will continue to further Shonda's mission of promoting growth, exploration, and the pursuit of knowledge.
Although Shonda's laughter will no longer fill our ears, her legacy will live on in our hearts. Her memory will be a reminder to live life openly, to laugh often, and to love deeply. Shonda Harper will forever be remembered and deeply missed.
