SHIRLEY'S OBITUARY

Shirley Ann Penley, 70, of Lenoir passed away Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Amorem Hospice in Hudson.

Miss Penley was born in Caldwell County to the late Carl Lee Penley and Mary Jo Kincaid Penley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by partner, Ronald Eugene Griffin; a brother, Robert Lee Penley Sr.; and two nephews, Robert Lee Penley Jr. and Jason Ray Parsons.

Shirley was a kind soul, loving mother and sister, and a child of God. She was retired from Broyhill Occ. Plant #1, where she worked for over 35 years. She was a devoted lover of animals, particularly concerned over the rescue and welfare of dogs and cats.

Survivors include her daughter, Shelley Ann Penley of Lenoir; her brothers, Wayne Price of Hickory and Allen Penley of Lenoir; her sisters, Irene Yelton and husband, Wayne of Morganton, Mary Jean Gladen of Morganton, Margaret Pritchard and husband, Kenneth of Hudson, and Kathy Darby of Lenoir; her grandson, Steven Andrew Spears of Spring Lake, New Jersey; and numerous nieces and nephews.

As per the family’s request, there will be no service. Shirley will be laid to rest at Blue Ridge Memorial Park in Lenoir.
