Shirley Gayle Lashley Morphies, 77
Shirley Gayle Lashley Morphies, age 77, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories. She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Morphies, her brother Louis Butch Lane, her biological and adopted parents as well as several half siblings. Shirley is survived by her devoted six children and their spouses, whom she affectionately called her Outlaws & In-laws: Patricia (Benny) Conner, Angela (Alex) Hudson, Richard (Cindy) Morphies, Christie (Travis) McGhee, George (Kim) Morphies, and Jason (Jessica) Morphies. She also leaves behind 28 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren who will continue to carry her spirit forward. Shirley is also survived by her brother Jeff (Valerie) Lashley.
Shirley's life was a beautiful tapestry woven with love and joy. It is also a story of perseverance through tragedy and heartache. She had a passion for crocheting, playing card games, and traveling. As a TV buff and a karaoke queen, Shirley brought light and laughter wherever she went. In recent years, she was blessed to travel to many beautiful places, creating unforgettable moments with her family.
To know Shirley was to love her and to share in her infectious laughter. She was the heart and soul of her family, a matriarch whose presence will be deeply missed every day. Her memory will forever be a source of comfort and inspiration to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
A memorial potluck to celebrate Shirley's life will be held at the Farmington Community Center, 1723 Farmington Rd., Mocksville, NC 27028, on July 28, 2024, at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please bring a covered dish and memories to share in honoring her legacy.
