Shirley's obituary

Shirley "Maw Maw" Moore Simons, age 80, passed away peacefully on November 14, 2025, in Grapevine, Texas. Born on June 7, 1945, in Haltom City, Texas, Shirley lived a life marked by strength, devotion, and unwavering love for her family.

A proud graduate of Haltom High School’s Class of 1963, Shirley forged a path of determination and resilience throughout her life. She broke barriers as the first woman manager at her place of work—a testament to her tenacity and leadership. Her career included running the post office in Watauga for several years and later working at H.D. Smith until her retirement. In every role she held, Shirley brought dedication and integrity.

Shirley’s heart was rooted deeply in her family. She shared 36 loving years with her devoted husband Michael Moore. Together they built a home filled with laughter, warmth, and enduring partnership. She was the proud mother of two daughters: Renauda Lee Collins and Shellie Rae Pepper. She also welcomed her son-in-law Auldon Pepper into the family with open arms.

Her legacy continues through her grandchildren: Jared McMahon, McKenzie Pepper, Josh Collins, Jessica Nagy, and Julie Collins—each of whom brought immense joy to her life. Known affectionately as "Maw Maw," Shirley embraced her role as grandmother with boundless love and pride.

She is also remembered by her brother Jerry Moore; sisters Rita King and Carolyn Morgan; and brother-in-law Harold Morgan. Her extended family includes numerous nieces and nephews who were touched by her generosity and vibrant spirit.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents Jesse and Barry Moore; brothers Joel Moore, Nolan Moore, Dale Moore, Donnie Moore; sisters Ila "Pearl" Hartings and Betty Wiesner; and half-sister Avril Ann.

In her younger years, Shirley delighted in roller skating with her children. She treasured time spent with family and friends at favorite restaurants or simply enjoying television alongside Michael. Her Christian faith remained a guiding light throughout her life and brought comfort until the very end.

Those who knew Shirley will remember a woman who showed up when it mattered most—steadfast in times of crisis, generous beyond measure, fiercely loyal to those she loved. Her sense of humor lit up every room she entered, and she never hesitated to speak her mind with honesty, heart, and of course a little bit of sass.

May the memory of Shirley "Maw Maw" Moore Simons bring comfort to all who knew and loved her.
