A year feels like a long time for you to be missing from our lives. I think about you a lot, and your family. Your friendship helped me to grow in many ways, and you were a critical part of the glue that held our friend group together. I also looked up to you and happily received your advice on many things in parenting and life. You were always so "with it" in my eyes. I miss our random chats about nothing and everything. I miss you a lot!

Although we did not hang out outside of the day care center where her children went and I was teacher, at every gathering there was at the school Shirley was always there cheering her kids on. My favorites were 4th of July and Halloween! But no matter what Shirley was always having fun always with a big smile on her face and mingling with everyone!

I can't remember the year it started but when I worked at Hutchison after tyler had already moved on to Toddlers from the infant room Shirley came in to the room and of course all of us infant teachers were like don't tell us you're having another baby and she laughed and said Oh no, no ,no ,no! That's not happening any time soon! After we shared that laugh she said hey Janie I was just wondering you know the girls decided to go through their stuff and get rid of some of their clothes. Would you be interested in them? My daughter is a year younger than Kaitlyn and has always worn clothes a size up, so I said sure I'd love them, thinking she was gonna bring me a small bag. Next day there were like 3 bags and two big diaper boxes waiting for me. And then it just became a yearly occurrence, so technically I still haven't had to buy new clothes for my daughter thanks to Shirley's and her girls' generosity. Thank you for being a part of my life! I will miss you very much forever.

Not your average “Davis” mom, Shirley was down to earth and not a fake bone in her body. She wasn’t trying to be anything or anyone but herself. I admired her for this. My admiration only grew as I witnessed her mother her children and fight her toughest fight. She I Inspired me to be a better mother, a better neighbor and a better person. Our friendship wasn’t very long but it touched me deeply and I am so grateful to have Had the experience of Shirley in my life.
