Shigeru's obituary
The Uyeyama family is sad to announce the passing of Shigeru Uyeyama on February 16th 2026.
He was predeceased by his wife Yoshiko and his son Randy. He is survived by, his son Michael (Shelley), he is also survived by his 4 grandchildren and their spouses, one great granddaughter and two great grandson and several nephews and nieces.
Shig was born in Prince Rupert and came to Greenwood during the WW2 internment camps. He made the best of it and made Greenwood his home and worked in forestry.
In 1951 Shig played hockey for the Greenwood High School Bruins.
Shig was honoured with a plaque at the Greenwood curling rink “Shig’s’ corner” for all his dedication to the curling rink as plant and bar manager.
Shig enjoyed many activities including golfing, curling, fishing, hockey, and enjoyed going on casino trips and enjoying a nice cold beer.
Shig is deeply loved and will be dearly missed.
