Sheryll's obituary

Heaven received one of their brightest souls, who was warmly embraced by Jesus as we announce this transitioning of Sheryll Theresa Tucker on May 15, 2025 to GLORY. Born on May 29, 1956 in Kingston Jamaica, to Leslie and Evelyn Thomas-Campbell, Sheryll lived a life full of love, faith in Christ, and devotion to family with an enduring spirit that touched the hearts of all who knew her. She was a beacon of joy, kindness and laughter, who epitomized hard work in every sense of the way.

Sheryll was a loving wife to her husband and best friend, John Tucker, whom she married in 1978, and a devoted mother to her sons and daughters in love, Jermie (46), Shawn (41) and Mary (41), and Brian (38) and Olga (36) Tucker. Sheryll and John were blessed with four grandchildren, Miguel (11), Javier (8), Mario (4) and Miles (2). Sheryll had the honor of being the godmother to Taliyah Smith-Kendrick and Angel Green. She was predeceased by her parents Leslie and Evelyn Campbell and her brother Michael Campbell. She is survived by her loving family, along with her brother and sister-in-law, Trevor & Hope Campbell, hundreds of friends, co-workers and recipients of her devoted prayers.

In 1977, Sheryll moved to Chicago, IL, beginning a journey that brought her joy, fulfillment, and excitement to continue her educational and professional pursuits in healthcare. During her time living in Chicago, Sheryll worked at numerous hospitals and developed her skills in the nursing field and over time became a reputable RN who was trusted to care for those in critical need.

She later welcomed her three children in 1979, 1984, and 1986. Throughout the years, Sheryll devoted her time to growing in her walk with the Lord and serving in multiple ministries at Apostle Turner's Full Gospel Church in downtown Chicago. In 1992, the Tucker family relocated to sunny Florida and immediately Sheryll continued to keep her hand on the plow and served faithfully at Abundant Life Church in Margate, FL. Sheryll was gifted in many areas but one she loved dearly that impacted everyone was her love for prophetic dance. When Sheryll was not leading life groups, praying for individuals, serving the needs of her family, you could often find her worshiping the Lord in dance. On a very special day in 2005, as we celebrated the life of Evelyn Campbell, Sheryll performed a special dance tribute to her mom and there was not a dry eye in the room. Sheryll continued her passion and gift for dance as a devout member of New Mount Olive Baptist Church, where she passionately served as a volunteer in the Stewardship, Health & Wealth and Prayer Ministries. Her faith was the guiding light of her life, and she lived every day embodying the teachings of Jesus Christ.

Sheryll was never shy about sharing her faith. Even while working at Broward General Hospital or when she opened up her own practice called Ultimate Home Healthcare, Sheryll was a living example of a disciple of Christ. Some of her best friends today such a Paulet Green, Cheryl Hopkins and Eva Parker were colleagues she worked closely with that to this very day love the Lord passionately and embody the similar servant's heart that Sheryll carried her entire life.

Sheryll's personality could only be described as warm, inviting, caring, thoughtful, loving, and joyful. She had a love for healthy eating, with an occasional cheat day of curry goat, rice and peas, ackee saltfish and Jamaican cake batter. Yes, batter; however, just make sure you have room-temperature water on deck to flush out the system. On Sunday afternoons with her best friend, she would watch shoot-em up westerns, old school hallmark channel and Christmas movies in the summer! She enjoyed reading the Bible and was a fan of Gospel and Worship music. Some of her favorite TV shows were 'Law and Order,' 'Murder She Wrote,' 'Star Trek,' and 'Matlock.' She was a major fan of the Chicago Bulls and whatever "Tucka" would watch. Additionally, she loved spending time with her extended family and would host game nights, holiday parties and visit her grandchildren whenever she could. To have known Sheryll meant you knew her special fondness for butterfly watching and collecting. Her collection brightened the rooms in her home and you could not help but to leave her presence feeling light, warm and joyful.

Sheryll's legacy is one of love, faith, and selflessness. Her greatest accomplishment was her three children giving their life to the Lord and caring for her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly. She had a unique ability to make people feel valued, loved, and important, no matter the circumstance. Sheryll always advised others to put God first, pray often, and never let go of faith in Jesus. She was truly a Christ-filled, loving, and generous human being who touched so many lives with her kind words, monetary gifts, and fervent prayers. She was the type of person to take the shirt off her back to see you happy and protected. Beloved by everyone she met but will be missed most by those closet to her.

In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted for "Sheryll's Legacy Fund". Your contributions will help offset funeral arrangements and her celebration of life. The remaining contributions will be donated to support her love for butterflies, and continue her lifetime of generosity and care to God's precious creatures.

Thanks are in order to many family members who stepped up to support the family during this difficult time, however, three are worthy of a special acknowledgement for their sacrifice and care of mom during her final days. Paulet Green, Clare Campbell and Cheryl Hopkins. Thank you for your thoughtful support, words of wisdom, endless hours of care and for loving mom with such tenderness. Paulet, you were divinely sent by God for such a time and we cannot thank you enough for being in position and serving mommy until her final breath. May God bless you and your homes for a lifetime.

In closing, please remember these biblical words that mom lived by... To be absent from the body is to be present with Christ!

The world has lost a truly beautiful soul in Sheryll Tucker, but her legacy will continue to inspire, guide and lead us to the cross.

We miss you, mommy (Sheryll), and we will forever carry your love in our hearts.
