Sheryl “Sherry” Powell, 71, passed away on October 6, 2024. A native of Vidalia, Georgia, she was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Douglas and Irma Claytine Coxwell; husband, William C. Powell; and brother, Timothy Coxwell. She retired as a registered nurse, working at Children’s Hospital of the King’s Daughters and in the Chesapeake Public Schools as a school nurse. Sherry was a member of Christ’s Fellowship.

She is survived by her husband, Frank T. Wright; sons, J. Larry Thompson (Kristian), T.J. Thompson (Hannah), Michael Powell, William Powell and Stuart Wright (Annette); two daughters, Ruthie Adams (EC) and Lisa Wright (Tim); sister, Patricia Johnson (Virgil); brother, Douglas Coxwell (Nancy); nine grandchildren, Dylan, Brent, Aubrey, Zoe, Dexter, Chelsea (Mike), Jake, Darwin and Tyson; and one great-grandchild, Graham.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, Oct. 12, at 1 PM at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Christ’s Fellowship, 2925 Victory Blvd., Portsmouth, VA 23702. www.SturtevantFH.com
