Sherry's obituary
Sherry Lynn Nabil, born August 15, 1959, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Wilma Hays.
Sherry was a devoted mother to Amber (Mitchell) Houck and Gregory (Nicole) Nabil, and a proud and loving grandmother to her three grandsons, Howie Houck (24), Owen Houck (22), and Brody Nabil (14), who adored her as deeply as she adored them.
She is also survived by her siblings: Debbie (Greg), Ruth Ann (Bill, recently deceased), and Steve (Cindy), along with many cherished cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Sherry was known by many endearing names—Mom, Ma, Mama, Grams, and Granny—but no matter what you called her, you felt her love. Her family was her whole world. She treasured family dinners, holidays, and any opportunity to gather together. Nothing brought her more joy than watching her grandsons in all of their activities and celebrating their lives.
She was a beloved lunch lady at Northridge Local Schools for many years, where she made a lasting impression on countless students with her kindness and warmth. In more recent years, she worked alongside her daughter Amber at Paint Parties For Fun, where she quickly became a cherished part of the studio. Customers became friends, and she greeted them with hugs, laughter, and a genuine spirit that made everyone feel at home.
Sherry also treasured her “cousin days,” a special tradition she looked forward to each month, spending Saturdays with her sisters, Debbie and Ruth Ann, and her cousins Cynthia, Donna, Melinda, and Mary—creating memories filled with laughter and love.
In the last several years of her life, Sherry truly blossomed—embracing life, love, and joy in a way that left a lasting mark on everyone around her. She became the most beautiful version of herself, and that is the woman her children and grandchildren will forever hold in their hearts.
She will be deeply and terribly missed by all who knew and loved her.
