After a difficult battle with colon cancer, Sherry Sharlene McGowen passed away peacefully on February 20, 2022. Born in Huntington Beach, CA to Donald Ray and OraBell Marie Buckner, Sherry was described as a bundle of joy. Sherry was passionate about music from a very young age and counted herself a very active member of countless fan clubs over the years. She was front and center for every Fan Fair/CMA Music Festival in Nashville for many years and was equally passionate about dancing and singing karaoke. Country music has definitely lost its biggest fan! Sherry was a fiercely independent mother, raising three equally independent children, as well as several beloved stepchildren. Sherry was our biggest cheerleader and our constant supporter. Our family would not be where it is today if we didn’t have Sherry as a mother. She never met a stranger, was accepting of any and all people that she ever met, and encouraged her children to never be afraid to experience all that this world has to offer. Sherry was predeceased by the love of her life, Elzie "Roscoe" McGowen, her grandfather, William Midgley, her grandmother, IdaBell Grimes, her aunt, Delores "Floss" Smithson, her niece, Christyn Munoz, and her great-granddaughter, Aubriella Torres. She leaves behind 2 daughters, Shana Holson(Frank) of Howe, OK and Heather Comeaux(Barry) of Jarreau, LA, her son, Jeff Blomberg of Nashville, TN, her parents, Anthony and OraBell Lafrenier, her siblings, Donna Howe(John), Dalisa Munoz, and Anthony Lafrenier II(Kellie), her beloved grandchildren, Lakahyia Reynolds(James), Makayla Raymos, Daniel Holson, Kaitlyn Raymos(Ashley), Kylee Holson, Niabi Holson, and IsaBelle Fields, and her great grandchildren, Mary, Cameron, Everly, Makinley, Stryker, and Brynlee. A Celebration of Life potluck will be held at Summerfield Cemetery on May 26, 2022 at 2:00pm.
