Sherrill's obituary

Sherrill Durham, age 60, passed away on August 10, 2019, with her loving husband Mike Durham by her side at their home in Manhattan, Kansas.
Sherrill was diagnosed with Lou Gehrig's disease, also known as ALS in 2007. She fought a long hard battle with her family by her side until Jesus decided to take her home.
She was born in Elizabethtown, Kentucky on March 18, 1959. Then later moved to Kansas in 1964. Where she met Mike Durham and then they united in married on August 10, 1978. Mike and Sherrill were married for exactly 41 years to the date the day Sherrill passed away.

Sherrill loved her family, friends, and pets. She loved anything NASCAR and anything to do with racing. Her favorite NASCAR driver was Dale Earnhardt Jr #88. She collected anything NASCAR from as small as key chains, shirts and ball caps, to her most prized purchase the Dale Earnhardt Jr's Signature Monte Carlo! She drove this car with lots of pride, (everyone knew the rule)...don't touch Sherrill’s car!

Sherrill and Mike both raced street stock cars together. She drove in the Powder Puff Races and won several competitions. She got the nickname "Cooter” because she could work on any vehicle just like a guy, and when Sherrill put her ball cap on to help Mike work on their race cars, she looked like "Cooter" off of the TV show, the Dukes Of Hazard. Sherrill, was also known as "boot lip" by “Mikey" they had such a strong love for each other you never saw them apart unless they were at work.

Her two daughters, Jamie and Trish, both looked up to their mom and loved her very much, they use to Love Playing Mario all night long with their mom.

Sherrill also loved to detail vehicles for a living. She owned her own auto detail shop in Manhattan, Kansas, "Sherrill’s Quality Detail" She was well known for detailing cars for many of the local car dealerships in Manhattan. She put a lot of pride in her work, and it showed.

Sherrill loved many things in her life, but her grandchildren, Tori Owensby, Jason Heikes, Hunter Owensby, Jayden, and Jaxson were the sparkle in her eyes.

Sherrill is survived by her loving husband Mike Durham, her daughters Jamie Owensby (Richard, Tori, and Hunter) and Trisha Booher (Ronnie, Jason, Jayden, and Jaxson), and her Sister Becky Pixler (Gene ) as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, and brothers-in-law. She is also survived by her beloved pets, her dog Bristol, and a cat named Max.

Sherrill is proceeded in death by her parents, Nancy Jane Stinnett and Lester Stinnett, her brother Ted Vincent, his wife Betty Vincent, and her Dog Harley. Harley Sherrill’s Dalmatian was cremated and will be laid to rest with Sherrill.

Sherrill you will be missed by many.
