Sherilyn's obituary
A life of beauty deserves sincere remembrance. In loving memory of Sherilyn Squire Cook, 68, who passed away in Provo Utah with her devoted husband and children by her bedside.
Sherilyn was born on April 21, 1953, the second child of eight. In her junior year of High School Sherilyn received the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow Award for her creativeness. She was very talented in sewing and cooking. In 1971 Sherilyn went to Utah to participate in the last dance festival that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints held. Teens from all over the country participated in the festival.
After graduating from North Olmsted high school, Sherilyn went to Rick's College in Rexburg Idaho. She soon met the love of her life and was married to Richard Cook on February 20, 1972.
As a busy mother of 4 children, Sherilyn still found time to serve the Lord. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ, Sherilyn served in many callings throughout her life. She was the president of the Relief Society, Young Women's, and Primary Organizations. Her favorite calling was being the Activities Days Leader in the Wadsworth ward. She loves the Lord and was eager to return to her Heavenly Father and Savior Jesus Christ.
In the early '80s, Sherilyn's desire to become a Registered Nurse came to fruition as she raised her four young children and maintained the home while Richard worked as a General Contractor.
In 1997 tragedy struck the family when her youngest child, Ryan was accidentally killed while riding an ATV. This changed their family forever.
Having moved back and forth from Ohio to Utah, in the summer of 2018, Richard and Sherilyn moved from Ohio to Utah for the last time. Sherilyn's love for her husband, children, grandchildren and family, was the center of her life. Sherilyn had a large family and many friends. Her passing is an immense loss that is felt greatly by those who knew her, because all who knew her loved her. That’s just the kind of person Sherilyn was. She loved greatly and was greatly loved in return.
As her daughter said:, "Heaven gained an incredible angel. Sherilyn will be missed by so many. As our hearts break losing her we also are so grateful that she is no longer in pain & is reunited with her youngest son, Ryan."
Thank you for all the prayers, love, & support from so many that loved her so much. May she remain forever in our hearts.
