To know her is to love her, and loving her was our greatest blessing.

Sheri Kay (Hight) Brunson was born in Dallas, Texas, in 1958 to Nathan and LeRae Hight. The family later moved to a small town named Southlake, where her legacy began.

As the firstborn of three children, Sheri fully embraced her role. She always took charge, minded the rules, and, when necessary, she "held court" to drive her point across. She took her role as the firstborn to a level that many could hardly imagine, but we all loved her for it. She was the glue that held us together. Sheri had a knack for being everyone's favorite, and we often found ourselves yearning to be around her, just so we could make her smile. Her laughter could light up a room, and there was no mistaking her presence, as she skillfully directed us like a beautiful symphony.

From an early age, it was evident that Sheri was a leader. She broke ceilings in both life and business. She was a star player on the 1975 First State Championship Dragon Ladies Basketball team at Carroll High School, the owner of the first woman-owned dry cleaners in Southlake, Texas, the first female President of the Southlake Chamber of Commerce, and a charter member of the Champion Rotary Club in Justin, Texas. Sheri carved her own path to success, paving the way for many who followed.

In 1992, she opened her first dry cleaners back in her hometown of Southlake and continued in the industry for over 30 years. She led by example, embodying the hard work, dedication, and perseverance it took to be a successful woman-owned business owner. Fierce in business, she understood that customer service was key, and this was evident in the way many customers and employees became extended family.

Throughout her life, Sheri went by many names, but the two she cherished the most were Mom and SheShe. She passionately loved and protected her family. From school events and football games to tennis matches, she was always there, coaching you and even coaching the coaches! If she felt the calls were unfair against her loved ones, she would go to the ends of the earth to make it right. You always wanted Sheri in your corner because you knew you had nothing to worry about. She was everyone’s biggest cheerleader, counselor, and protector. She single-handedly carried the weight of the world on her shoulders and did so with grace and style. When the world threw challenges her way, she would put on a smile and reassure us with, "I'm good," before shifting the conversation to see how she could help us. Serving and helping others was her love language. Whether hosting an event or lending advice, she was always willing to help. She never asked for sympathy and rarely discussed her pain. True to her nature, she pushed through and kept going just as hard and just as fast.

Sheri was a person whose heart was filled with love and dedication to others, and her faith radiated through her actions. Phrases like "Love ya, mean it" and "Love you more" beautifully reflect her character and feelings. In her final moments, she made it her mission to express her deep love and devotion. To nurses, friends, and family, she would say, "Love you." Even in those challenging times, she gave everything she could, for which we will always be grateful.

The world will be a little darker without her, but her love will live on through her children and grandchildren, along with the many cherished memories we each hold so dear.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Nathan and LeRae Hight. Survived by her husband David Brunson. Son Christopher Duncan (Lindsey) Daughters Baylee Brunson and Sarah Lankford (Tony). Stepsons Casey Brunson (April), Cody Carnley (Melissa). Stepdaughter Kayla Stone. Grandchildren Jacei Duncan, Conor Duncan, Jyllian Duncan, Emerye Duncan, Carley Brunson, Olivia Lankford, Brody Lankford, Brock Lankford, Tanner Carnley, Ty Carnley, Gracie Carnley, Kaylin Cripe, Kaycee Cripe . The memorial service for Sheri will be held Saturday, March 1st 2025 at 10am at Denton County Cowboy Church, 400 Robinson Rd  Ponder, TX.
