Sheila's obituary
Sheila Kaye (Arnold) Olson, 59 of Orlando, Florida, formerly of Marion County, Illinois passed away on March 1, 2025. Sheila was born on January 17, 1966 in Vandalia, IL to Nancy (Michael) Diss of Port Richey, Florida and Merle (Jaye) Arnold of Alma, Illinois. Sheila graduated from Kinmundy-Alma High School in 1985. As a young woman, she was very outgoing, a cheerleader in high school, and a member of the 4-H group, Shriver Sewing Circle. She married David Olson on January 30, 1996. Sheila was a Christian and a homemaker. She was fun-loving and adventurous. She had a passion for the outdoors and loved fishing, cooking, and caring for flowers and plants. She also enjoyed rock and roll music and was always the life of the party. Most of all, she cherished spending time with her friends and family.
Sheila is survived by her husband, David Olson of Orlando, Florida; daughter, Andrea (Ryan) Burris of Paris, Illinois; son, Alexander (Korie) Olson of Paris, Illinois; daughter, Julie Olson of Vandalia, Illinois; grandchildren, Aubrey Burris, Ryder Burris, Rylee Olson, and Dakota Olson, all of Paris, Illinois; and Eli Mabey of Vandalia, Illinois; and her beloved dog, Bailey. She is also survived by her parents, Nancy (Michael) Diss of Port Richey, Florida, and Merle (Jaye) Arnold of Alma, Illinois; her sisters, Cheryl (Danny) Garrett of Bradenton, Florida, Shelley (Ron) Hartman of Fall City, Washington, Merlene Goff of Salem, Illinois, and Tricia (Darrin) Rambo of Alma, Illinois; her brothers, Gabe (Kim) Wright of Kinmundy, Illinois, and Tim (Shannon) Wright of Salem, Illinois; a brother-in-law, Jon (Sherry) Olson; her grandmother, Paulene (Otis) Burgess of Kinmundy, Illinois; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her son, Derek Branstetter; granddaughter, Skylar Burris; brother-in-law, Paul Sobolewsky; sister-in-law, Kristine Olson; father-in-law, Rev. Arnold Olson; and her grandparents, Bernice and D.A. Arnold, and Mable and Robert Smith.
A Celebration of Life will be held for friends and family at the Kinmundy Community Center on April 26, 2025, from 3 to 5 P.M. Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Old Loogootee Cemetery. Sheila’s kindness, laughter, and adventurous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
