I'm shocked and in disbelief of Sheila's passing. We haven't spoken in over twenty years and wanted to say hi but came across this obituary.

May she rest in eternal light.

My sister Sheila wasn't just my sibling. She was my life coach, culinary teacher, my other other mom, the "HOMIE." I remember her always telling me that when she was 12, she'd carry me IN MY CARSEAT to and from my babysitter to home in Potrero. When I got my driver's permit, she told me "let's go" and she made me drive to the Berkeley/Oakland Hills with 0 driving experience. She taught me how to drive and hug the turns getting to Tilden Park. When I was a minor (15), I wanted to get my belly button pierced so I asked Sheila if she can pretend to be my mom (mind you that we were 12 years apart but the staff didn't really trip so it's fine =D). We had IDs with matching last name and address so we went to Telegraph and I got my piercing. When I turned 18 I got my first tattoo on my back. Sheila helped me clean my tattoo and put lotion on it and she said my tattoo looked hella cool. When I used to live with her we used to go grocery shopping at Monterey Market and Berkeley Bowl and I swear it felt like forrrrreeeeverrr, but I will forever cherish those moments. She taught me how pick fresh fish, introduced me to imported cheese, how to pick produce, try new food, how to pick a good chef knife, how to finesse basic ramen, become picky with my coffee, and how to cook. When I became pregnant, I thought she'd respond like "OH MY GOSH!!!" It was more like "OH MY GOSH FINALLY!!!!" During my pregnancy, she was so excited and always made me home cooked meals and made sure the cheese she gave me were pasteurized. After I gave birth, she gave me blue cheese and made sushi for us because she KNEW I was craving them like crazy . I am forever grateful that you met Mila and love her like your own daughter. She always made sure everyone was well fed. If you've ever tried her cooking, you know WSUP. If she wasn't cooking or making a Glace'd cake, she'd be making floral arrangements. If you thought the floral arrangements from my wedding were ordered elsewhere... they were hand made by Sheila. I always called her "Bagheera" like the panther from Jungle Book because Bagheera always guided, and looked out after Mowgli and made sure he was safe. She was my Bagheera, she looked out for me, put me in check, and guided me. I will never forget your explosive laugh, our coffee dates, introducing me to good music, and M.I.A.'s music. Thank you for everything that you've taught me. Spaghetti Thursday all day. I love you Silly Monsta. Rest easy my angel. Chef Sheila Forever.❤️

During my surprise baby showe…
During my surprise baby shower, Sheila made all of the food and it was such a beautiful spread.

I didn't know Sheila long but I know she is an amazing soul. I ordered a custom cake from her that had to be driven down to Los Angeles. She was incredibly sweet, going above and beyond to make sure not only her cake survived the trip, but also checked in on me. I was even late when meeting her, and she offered to grab me coffee. I met her at her kitchen. We spoke about how the pandemic had affected us but allowed us to blossom as Entrepeneurs, and she told me about her plans to open locations in other cities and countries. I am so heartbroken. She will be missed. Sending my love to her family and friends. Thank you Sheila for being one of the blessings I've gotten to encounter in this very trying year.
