Sheila's obituary
Ms. Sheila Denise Blackman
Sheila was born January 7, 1955, to the late Susie Blackman-Taylor and Charles Blackman in Birmingham, Alabama. She was the sister and best friend of Christine Patterson-Durham. In 1957, the family moved to Chicago, Illinois and soon after, united with McGee Temple Church of God in Christ, Chicago, Illinois, under the late F.W. McGee Jr. Today Pastor Willie Henderson, where the family continues to serve faithfully. Sheila grew up in Chicago, experiencing lots of great memories, surrounded by her family, church family, and a host of cousins and friends. She graduated from South Shore High School and attended DeVry University.
Sheila later moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota with her three children, Charles, Keisha & Ernest and created a life full of love, laughter, fun, education of course, and new experiences.
She retired from the Minnesota Dept. of Health were she touched many hearts while supporting others. Many colleagues, became friends, whom she would later call family, including her special sister-friends the "Boss Ladies".
Sheila was reliable, trustworthy, and ambitious. If she said she was going to do something, it gets done. She taught us the importance of making sacrifices today to gain the things that we want in the future and that hard work does get rewarded. Sheila was extremely generous. She was always the first person to of er help when she saw that it is needed. There was no need to ask. She would always tirelessly advocate for the injustices of others. Sheila was thoughtful and considerate, especially to those whom she held dear to her heart. She loved hard and was loyal to those that loved her. She enjoyed lively conversations over a good plate of food, loved chocolate, Pepsi and listening to her music. Her favorite past time, by far, was loving up on her grandsons. They are her greatest joy and achievement whom she shared every moment with the world. She loved all the birthday parties, sporting games, cheering from the sidelines, band concerts and movie nights with the family. And shes's forever known for her many shades of red lipstick.
