Daysee's obituary
Sheila “Daysee” Baker Neal passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2025. Her loss leaves a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her as a source of love, faith, and radiant spirit.
Daysee’s faith was an important aspect of her life and a source of kindness and compassion. Known affectionately as “Daysee” or “Miss Neal,” her nickname came from a beloved pet that brought her great joy. She was steadfast in her belief that faith in God would light her path through every challenge.
She lived life with passion and a deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. She loved the water, whether at the river, lake, or ocean, and often dreamed of owning a home near her loved ones, a dream she was close to realizing. She embraced Virginia summers, soaking up the sunshine, kayaking, savoring a cold drink in a frosted mug, and tending to her flower beds and houseplants. She also loved music, hiking, and family outings, always finding joy in connection and nature.
Daysee’s humor, warmth, and fierce spirit endeared her to everyone around her. Once fond of red roses, she grew to love daisies, symbols of resilience and light, perfectly reflecting her own strength and beauty. Daysee was a medical technician at Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail, where she dedicated herself to caring for others with professionalism and empathy, leaving a lasting impact on her colleagues and those she served.
She is preceded in death by her father Lloyd Martin Eppard, nephew TJ Cave, and her precious dog Daysee Sue. She is survived by her son Bradlee Ailles & his partner Nicole, her daughters Jamee Dyan Baker, Cassee Lyn Baker, her granddaughter Kaylee Lyn Baker, and her grandsons Braydee Alexander Taeyang Cha, Belamee Haneul Cha, and Zebedee Skye Baker, as well as her sisters Cyndy Sue Berry & husband Clyde, Vickie Lynn Hensley & husband Shawn, and Karen Virginia White, her mother Margaret Eppard Smith, and her friend and long-time partner Kirk Jones.
A memorial will be held to celebrate her life on October 25, 2025 at 11:30 AM at Waller Mill Park, in Williamsburg, VA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to animal rescue organizations in her memory.
With love, The Family of Daysee
