Shawn's obituary
Shawn was a true gregarious maverick. His intelligence and wicked sense of humor stole the heart of everyone he met. His big beautiful smile and giant hugs were the hallmark of any encounter you had with him.
He had recently moved to Austin, Texas where he was a project manager for a local construction company. Shawn was fiercely driven to create a better life for himself and serve as a great example for his son, Trace.
Shawn was born May 15, 1988 in Fairbanks, Alaska. He attended North Pole High School and was a proud member of the 2004 Patriots football team, who beat previously unbeaten West Anchorage 44-13 to win the state championship. Shawn loved to fish, crab, travel, and draft killer fantasy football teams.
He is survived by his son Trace. Also surviving is his father, Bernard and mother, Laurie, as well as his 6 siblings, Kurtis, Derick, Nick, Rushell, Bud and Larry, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and Bree, his beloved dog.
Shawn’s love for football, Alaska, snow machines and adventure, was only surpassed by the love he had for his family. The relationship he had with his son, Trace was like no other. They shared an unbreakable bond. He was a wonderful brother and made sure he spent quality time with all of his family members. His brothers and sisters were his best friends and confidants. Through the good times and bad, he lived, laughed and loved unconditionally.
Shawn, you will be missed more than words can say.
