Shasta's obituary
Shasta Lorraine Ortiz was born on August 12, 1993 to Gwen Stone and Mike Ortiz in San Clemente, California. A true Southern California girl, she grew up playing in the water at San Clemente beach and hiking in Trabuco Canyon. After graduating from San Clemente High School, her love for animals led her to receive her degree at Stanbridge College. She worked at Arroyo Animal Hospital in Lake Forest (VCA) for many years and recently moved to Sendero Animal Hospital in San Juan Capistrano. She was loved by her coworkers and clients, but her favorite part of the job was working with and loving everyone’s pets all day.
To incapsulate who Shasta was in a few sentences is an impossible feat. Her kindness knew no bounds. If you were lucky enough to have a relationship with Shasta you knew how devoted she was to those she loved. Her laugh was infectious and her sense of humor was superb. She was feisty to the core and stood up for what she believed in. While she was sweet, soft and beautiful, she was stronger than most.
Shasta’s love for animals ran deep. From the time she was a little girl, it was clear she had a unique bond with animals. There is nothing she loved more than spending time with her dog B and Sequoia and cat, Princeton. We take solace knowing she got to reunite with Prince Jumbo, Little and B (Buns) at the Rainbow Bridge.
It’s as if her name set her up for a lifelong love of nature, she was named after Mount Shasta and its in nature where Shasta was most a home. She loved hiking the foothills of Trabuco Canyon and exploring destinations like Costa Rica and Hawaii.
She is survived by her mother and best friend, Gwen Stone, her father, Mike Ortiz, and countless others who she left an impact on in her short life.
