Sharron's obituary
With great sorrow I announce the death of my dear mother Sharron Gayle Collier on July 3, 2022 at Martin Luther King Hospital in Los Angeles, California.
Sharron Gayle Collier was born in Tyler, Texas in 1944 and moved to Wilmington, California at age four with her parents Jesse Lee Chapman and Valera Rose-Chapman, and brother Ronald Lee Chapman.
Sharron graduated from Phineas Banning High School in Wilmington, California in 1961. After graduating highschool she married James K. Delnort, Sr. She gave birth to her only child James K. Delnort, Jr. Sharron had an incredible love for James Jr. and wanted him to be loved by everyone. She was passionate about teaching her son to follow his own path and chase his dreams. Sharron would do anything for her only child with wanting little in return. Sharron once said that giving birth to a child was her greatest accomplishment in her life.
During the 1980's she enjoyed going out with her then-husband Andrew Collier on their small boat on the Pacific Ocean, enjoying the Southern California sunshine, fishing, and swimming in the ocean in the Long Beach/San Pedro, California beach area.
Sharron was loved by many as she was a loving person.
While living in Carson Assisted Living, then Lighthouse Healthcare Center, Los Angeles, California, nurses reported that she was regularly in a good mood and oftentimes smiling.
Eventually, she fell ill for many years from the effects of type 2 diabetes and dementia, passing away quickly and peacefully from kidney and heart failure.
Her life and presence are greatly missed. I am forever grateful for the life she gave me and the opportunities she provided for me. She will always be remembered.
Her remains are to be cremated according to her wishes and a memorial to her life is to be announced.
