In short, Richard and Sherry are the reason that I've been able to have such a wonderful life on the Central Coast. They opened their home to me and I've had the privilege to call them landlords and friends for the past 3.5 years. Their kindness and generosity have been immense and I cannot thank them enough for how they've treated me. Sherry always had a positive outlook on life, made time for others, and laughed at all the silly jokes Richard and I would share. Getting lunch around town together was special and she always made you feel like the center of the room. I can't think of a moment when she wasn't smiling and beaming with warm energy. I'll hold our conversations close to the heart and will remember her for the love she had for her family, friends, and neighbors. She will be deeply missed by all, but not forgotten <3

I can sum up Sherry in two words; Pure love. Not a static love, but a dynamic, active love. From her work with the peace corps to spreading her smile and light to the people she encountered. I’m sending her husband love and strength as he navigated these dark times. Stay strong brother, we love you and we need you in the game

My heart goes out to you, Richard, losing the love of your life. I always liked seeing the two of you together. You seemed very close. One of my fondest memories was going on a weeklong Lake Shasta houseboat trip with both of you. We arrived and left laughing. It was a great week.
I continue to hold you in my thoughts and prayers. May the happy stories continue to be shared.

Dear Richard,
Please accept our heartfelt condolences for your recent loss. The sudden loss of a wife is a devastating and lasting blow. May warm remembrances of all those good times shared and cherished, as well as the life challenges you faced and overcame, comfort you during those trying moments when grief pops up and catches you unprepared. Memories are such a wonderful gift, and your loving and heartfelt tribute for Sherry made Kathy and I wish we had lived closer by, as we wish we had known her better. May you always relish and share your recollections of Sherry, as they will lift your spirit, warm hearts, and celebrate the love you built together. Besides all of that, you know that doing so would have put such a big smile on her face, and made her so very happy she shared her life with you.
Sincerely Yours,
John & Kathy Barrena

Sherry was my big sister. I always looked up to her, as younger siblings do. She was beautiful to me; tall, slender, blonde, and so very kind. She was good to me. She was the only person I would let perm my hair. She gave me good advice, and I don't think I told her how much I appreciated her in my life. Sherry had a quiet strength and kept things close to her heart. She loved history and travel. Sherry saw the beauty in the world and created beauty of her own through her artistic talents, her lovely home, and with her unwavering love for Richard. We had fun together, a Maztlan trip, parties in Santa Barbara, and even were roommates for a time. I miss her laugh. Miles had seperated us over the years. I thought she would always be there, always be my big sis. Yet, our best times together will be with Jesus. I love you, Sherry.

I am still experiencing disbelief, shock, and extreme sadness at my sister's passing. People always seem to regret not sharing enough time with their loved ones until it's too late. My precious sister has left us too soon.
We shared our young souls absorbing the lessons of life together. We shared most of the growing pains that many siblings do, but we always had each other. Sherry was a trailblazer in my eyes. Leading to fun experiences, adventures, and sometimes trouble. We enjoyed many camping trips with our parents to lakes, forests, deserts or the sea with our boat that my daddy built named 'THE SHERRY SUE.'
We would venture far from camp at times. But I always felt safe and protected with Sherry. As it turned she rescued me from drowning. I owe her my life.
Once while exploring, she grabbed my hand and shouted "RUN!" She saved us from a predator she saw in the distance whom she instinctively felt ment us harm. She was right, because he started chasing us. We ran as fast as our small legs would go and narrowly escaped.
Sherry always had my back. I remember sitting by our campfire late into the night feeling safe and warm under the stars. I have so many memories of my sister and me, but these are some of the fondest I hold dear to my heart.
I miss my sister terribly. But I believe we will be encircled around that magical campfire once again. Forever together enveloped by God's Love. 💗

What a beautiful tribute of Sherry's life. You two had such a strong and loving bond to each other. Such a life well lived with such a variety of experiences...literally around the world. You supported each other through good times and tough, which is a true testament to your marriage and dedication to being together. I look forward to hearing more details about your relationship and fond memories soon. May Sherry Rest in Peace in the loving arms of our Lord. Much love, Michael and Kim
