Sharon's obituary
Sharon Lee Stone passed peacefully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 2, 2025, at the age of 83. A native of Ames, Iowa, Sharon lived a life marked by strength, deep love, and unwavering commitment to her family.
She often said it was her children who brought her to the Lord—and it was through them that her spiritual journey began. She raised them with firm values, taught them right from wrong, and cultivated a deep bond among them that continues through the generations. One of her greatest joys was reciting the Lord’s Prayer with her children, a daily practice that reflected both her discipline and her devotion.
Psalm 23 was Sharon’s favorite scripture, and Amazing Grace brought her comfort and joy. In her later years, she became a faithful woman of prayer—reading scripture, watching sermons, and talking to the Lord. Those around her witnessed a deepening relationship with Jesus, especially in her final days. The peace and clarity she carried were unmistakable signs that she had drawn close to Him.
Sharon was known for her strength, strong intuition, and quick wit. She could read a person’s character instantly and had no patience for pride or pretense. She valued humility and hard work and lived those values each day. Even when she had little, she gave generously, offering love, wisdom, and help to anyone in need. Her presence made others feel truly seen—but she wasn’t afraid to speak truth when it was needed.
Over time, Sharon became softer and more Christlike. She came to know not only the justice of God, but also His deep and abiding grace. In her later years, she radiated that grace wherever she went—among neighbors, caregivers, and even strangers. Her warmth and quiet faith left a lasting impression on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
She was affectionately known by many—Mom, Grandma, Mema, GG, and Ma—each one a reflection of the love she gave. She was the proud mother of Susan Dunne, Greg Dunne (wife Janelle), Linda Henderson (husband Wayne), and Nancy Carlson. She also deeply loved her sister, Marcia Frett, and her brother, Duke Stone, who preceded her in death and whose memories she cherished. Sharon leaves behind many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one treasured great-great-grandchild. Her family was her greatest joy, and the love she poured into them continues to ripple through every generation.
Though her life had its share of hardship, Sharon finished well. Her story is one of redemption, strength, and unshakable love.
“Well done, good and faithful servant.”
