Sharon's obituary
Sharon L. Scholtz (née Pax), talented artist, professional musician, avid gardener, and Reiki practitioner, has died at the age of 80. After suffering a stroke, she passed away very peacefully with family by her side on November 15, 2022.
Sharon was born on January 18, 1942, in Clinton, Illinois to Robert and Louise Pax. Two years later, her family moved to Ventura, California, where she was raised. After graduating from Ventura High School in 1959 Sharon attended the University of California, Los Angeles. An accomplished violinist, Sharon left U.C.L.A. to be a stage entertainer with a sextet of female musicians called Les Femmes, who performed at the famed Desert Inn in the early 1960’s.
Sharon was married in 1963 and had a daughter and son, fulfilling an oft-shared childhood dream to have children of her own. She lived in Salt Lake City, Pasadena, and Fort Ord, before settling in Davis, California in 1970. While in Davis, Sharon was a Suzuki violin teacher and performed in the Sacramento Symphony. She also studied the art of Reiki healing and became a certified Reiki practitioner. In 1992, she moved to Santa Clara, California, received her Series 7 license, and worked as a financial planner and executive recruiter before retiring and moving to Chandler, Arizona in 2002 where she lived until the time of her passing. At her home in Chandler, she took great pride in designing, expanding, and maintaining her beautiful native Arizona landscaping.
In retirement, Sharon occasionally taught violin to children and teens, giving up her last student at age 70. A few years later, she traded in her violin bow for a paint brush as painting became an unquenchable passion which she indulged up to the time of her passing. She particularly enjoyed painting portraits, animals, landscapes, flora, and perspectives, many of which may be viewed at her online gallery – www.sharonscholtzgallery.com.
She is survived by her brother, Steven Pax, and sister-in-law, Linda, of San Luis Obispo, CA; daughter, Marjorie Scholtz of San Francisco, CA; son, David Scholtz, and daughter-in-law, Carolyn, of Lafayette, CO; and, her grandchildren, Kyle, Ali, and Skylar Scholtz.
As Sharon was a breast cancer survivor, a healer, and an artist, those wishing to honor her can make a contribution in her memory to Cancer Support Community Arizona and specify in the comments to direct the gift to their Art At Home cancer therapy program.
A celebration of life to honor Sharon will be held at a future date.
