Sharon M. (Hudson) Qualls, 61, of Punta Gorda, FL. passed away on November 8, 2024 in Port Charlotte, FL. After a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, November 16, 2024, at her home in Punta Gorda at 3pm.

Sharon was born on June 26, 1963, to the late Curtis and Joyce (Greer) Hudson in Taunton, MA. She had a wonderful childhood there with her older brothers Edward and Paul (Linda) and her big sister Corrine (David) Flint, and they spent their Summers at the Rose Point cottage on Cape Cod, which she cherished dearly. She graduated from Taunton High School 1981. Sharon married her beloved husband, David Qualls on October 17, 1981 in Taunton, MA. They moved to Punta Gorda with their infant daughter Katie Scott in 1984, then welcomed their son Brian and daughter Samantha (Gerald) St. John into the world. She also had a younger brother, Curtis Hudson Jr. Sharon worked in the retail industry in Charlotte County for over 30 years until she retired as a store manager in 2017, after the death of her husband and her first cancer diagnosis. In 2018, Sharon reconnected with her childhood friend Wayne Newman, and they spent the past 6 years making countless memories together.

Sharon was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant daughter Nichole, and niece Jennifer (Flint) Bartlett.

In addition to her children, siblings, and partner, Sharon is survived by her 7 grandchildren who she loved dearly (Kiara and Kyla Scott, Joshua, Hunter, and Lincoln St. John, Ayjah Johnson, and Harper Qualls.), brother-in-law Larry (Brenda) Qualls, and countless aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

Sharon lived her life to the fullest, spreading love and positivity to everyone who knew her. Many people describe her as being the sweetest person they knew, and she was always a comforting ear to anyone in need. She enjoyed making memories with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren who she adored and always made time for, even when she wasn’t well. She loved the beach, live music, and classic rock. She spent many weekends playing cards and games with family in the 80s and could always be found with her Bingo buddies in the 90s or yard sale hopping with her crew in the 2000s. She always watched General Hospital, even when she had to record it on VHS before the days of Streaming. Any child at her house would be welcomed with candy, snacks, and sweet tea! Sharon loved crafting and decorating for every holiday, especially Christmas, and spent much time tending to her yard and home. She cherished her visits up north spending time with her countless friends and family. She especially loved her cats Mia, Harley, Scout, and Buddy. Sharon’s patience, love, compassion, and positive spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
