What were Sharon's favorite ways to spend free time?

Sharon always dedicated her free time to the people she loved. Whenever I came home from college, I looked forward to the simple but cherished moments with her. There were always great conversations full of wisdom, a perfectly made cup of coffee (three creams, three sugars, just how we liked it), a fun game—whether cards, Connect Four, or Acey-deucey—and, of course, a slice of my favorite chocolate pie, made just for me. And let’s be honest, everyone who visited got their own special pie, too.

Sharon had a way with plants. She’d take a spider plant with babies and turn those babies into something amazing—showroom-worthy, huge planters that were meticulously arranged throughout her beautiful garden. Each year, Sharon would visit the Eastern Market and buy a single flat of impatiens. By the end of the summer, that one flat had magically transformed into 50 flats, all thriving in her garden. I, on the other hand, never quite inherited her green thumb and resorted to artificial plants, replacing them every year to keep them looking fresh ;-).

Every holiday—whether it was Valentine’s Day, Christmas, Easter, Kwanzaa, or any other—Sharon would transform the entire house to match the theme, right down to changing the fish aquarium gravel and accessories.  Her displays were a sight to see!                                                                                              
                                                                                                                                                                                                                           She had a gift for making everyone feel like family. You could always count on her, whether you needed a shoulder to cry on, a last-minute Kwanzaa outfit, a grand three-tiered wedding cake with a fountain (never took a dime), or help with a DIY project, Sharon was the person you could always rely on.

Those memories will forever be treasured.

Momma is renowned for her hospitality. She enjoyed hosting gatherings where children and adults alike were present. Whether it was sports-themed parties for Lisa, celebrating Kwanzaa, or having pool parties, family and friends were always welcome. Her home was a gathering place of warmth, laughter, and family. She loved baking beautiful cakes for weddings and birthdays, each one crafted with care and love. She was also known for her sewing skills, making beautiful dresses and stylish clothing. She enjoyed making clothes or special items for those close to her.

Momma's passion for gardening and her green thumb showcased the vibrant and peaceful sanctuary she worked so diligently to create. She took great pride in nurturing her flowers and plants. Spending time in the garden brought her a sense of calm. Momma was always surrounded by extended family and friends, cherishing every moment spent with them. Whether hosting, sharing stories, or simply enjoying a quiet afternoon together over a cup of coffee, it was full of love and memories that would last forever.
