Sharlene's obituary

Sharlene Kay Neely, 74 of Henderson NV passed away April 14, 2025, after a valiant battle with cancer. A remarkable woman whose love, dedication, and spirit touched the lives of many. Born on January 28, 1951, to Leon and Catherine Lewandowski in Detroit, Michigan, Sharlene's journey through life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her profession, and her passions.

Sharlene graduated from Warren Cousino High School in 1969 and went on to marry the love of her life, William (Bill) Neely, in 1975. Together, they built a life filled with love and dedication, approaching their 50th wedding anniversary as a testament to their enduring partnership. Sharlene's devotion to her family was evident in the way she raised their three children, Shannon, Kristy, and Steven, and later returned to school to become a licensed cosmetologist and instructor. Her talent and flair for style guided many students to excel at Hairacy College of Cosmetology in Port Huron.

At home, Sharlene was a fantastic cook who enjoyed hosting family and friends for fun-filled gatherings. Her love for animals was evident in the many spoiled cats she provided a loving home to over the years. Outside of the house, Sharlene found joy in winning at bingo, bowling a turkey, and scoring a birdie on the greens. She and Bill shared many adventures, from white water rafting the Salmon River in Idaho to golfing in Garland, Michigan, and enjoying Crescent Bar hotdogs in Siesta Key.

Sharlene's enthusiasm for life extended to her love of sports, cheering on the PGA, especially Tiger Woods, the Detroit Tigers, and the Vegas Golden Knights. Her vibrant spirit and zest for life will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Sharlene is survived by her loving husband, Bill; her children, Shannon (Jim) Rusch and Kristy (David) Lauer; her grandchildren, Chantel DeSloover, Megan Neely, Kaylee Lauer, and David Lauer; her brother Kerry (Christine) Lewandowski and sister Sheila (Michael) Kaser; and many nephews, nieces, and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her son Steven, her brother David Lewandowski, and her beloved fur-babies, Peekaboo, Angyl, Anabell (Annie), Sammie, and Sabrina.
