Shannon's obituary
Michael Shannon Testerman of Elk Creek, VA passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on Thursday, January 18, 2024 after a courageous fight to overcome injuries sustained in a fall on January 3rd.
Shannon was the son of Cora Lee & the late Darrell Testerman, loved little brother of Charles Testerman & favorite brother-in-law to Sue Testerman, all of Independence. Shannon is survived by Beverly Testerman, their four children, three in-laws & seven grandchildren: son Chad Carico, daughter-in-law Jillian & their children Madison, Mason & Makoy; daughter Crystal Moore, son-in-law Michael & their children Connor, Grayson & Arielle; daughter Stacey Testerman Bolt, son-in-law David Bolt & their son Carter. Aaron Testerman held dual privileges of son & best friend. Shannon also leaves behind a loyal dog & companion, Nooshka. He is survived by niece Amanda Moore and her family Greg, Abby & Carson. Shannon is both survived & preceded in death by many, many cherished friends & family members.
In his 62 years, Shannon accomplished all of the goals & ways of living set forth by his personal anthem, Simple Man. He leaves us with a legacy of generous love to family, abundant fun with friends, playfulness with children, helpfulness to his neighbor, appreciation for nature and satisfaction with self. He worked diligently throughout his life, honing many skills which he used to help others and provide for his family. An avid hunter & sportsman, his love for the outdoors lives on through his children, grandchildren, family, friends & community. Shannon preferred to be cremated & have his ashes spread in his happiest places. His final resting grounds will be among family, the trees, hilltops, mountain views & wildlife, as he wished.
In further keeping with his wishes, there will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, January 27, 2024 at Eagleview Event Center from 1:00pm to 3:30pm. There will be a memorial service from 1:00pm - 1:30pm and reception from 1:30pm - 3:30pm.
