Shannon's obituary

In Loving Memory of Shannon Brooke Chatfield

Born in Edison, NJ and drifted peacefully away in her sleep in Rockaway Beach, Queens, NY

With broken hearts and lasting love, we remember Shannon Brooke Chatfield, who passed away while on her final vacation by the sea — a place she felt most at ease.

Shannon was known for her warmth, wit, and deep compassion. She was a funny, kind, and driven soul who made those around her feel seen and loved. From a young age, she expressed herself through writing and performance. A theatrical child who will be remembered for singing “The Sun Will Come Out Tomorrow” from her bedroom window — a song that came to represent her resilient, hopeful spirit.

Through adolescence and young adulthood she proved to be a gifted visual artist and skilled soccer player. A thoughtful writer turned copywriter and long time karaoke enthusiast, Shannon lived life fully and beautifully. She had a talent for gathering friends and creating joy and beauty.

She was an incredible big sister and a devoted daughter, niece, and friend. Shannon is survived by her loving mother, Carol, her siblings Seth, Bethany, and Jonathan, and her cherished Aunt Diane and Uncle Richard. Her presence in our lives was a true gift — one that will never be forgotten.

To celebrate Shannon’s life, a sunset sea scattering ceremony will be held in Brooklyn, NY.

Though we mourn her loss, we will find comfort in the light she shared. And continue to carry gratitude for the lessons she taught, leading by example.
