Shannon's obituary

It is with impossible sadness that we share the loss of our daughter and sister, Shannon Lee Blaha. On February 10, 2026, she died by suicide in Los Angeles, California.

Shannon was extremely intelligent, beautiful, magnetic, and funny. She was a die-hard Dodgers fan, a passionate advocate for women’s rights, and an avid music lover. Her circle of friends was always wide, and she had a natural ability to connect with people and make them feel seen. She attended Lehigh University, where she played on the softball team on scholarship and was very active in her sorority, Alpha Phi. She built a successful career as a senior accountant, working with several high-profile companies including Goldenvoice and Goop.

She also carried many demons that she managed to keep at bay for a number of years. The pandemic was especially difficult for her, as the isolation allowed her mental illness to take hold. She was diagnosed with bipolar disorder a few years ago, and despite our endless efforts to help her, she struggled to accept the support that was always around her.

In the weeks since her passing, we have found ourselves looking for answers, wondering what more we could have done, said, or offered. Shannon had an incredible ability to mask her pain and keep functioning, which gave us hope that she would eventually come back to us and that one day she would need her friends and family again.

The truth is that she was silently suffering in ways we could not fully see.

For our family, life will never be the same. We will never stop loving her, and we will never stop missing her. She is a part of us now and forever.

To our beautiful Shannon, a very pleasant good evening to you, wherever you may be.

Shannon is survived by her loving parents, Mike Blaha and Andrea Don; her siblings, Briana Blaha (Joe Holzheimer) and Max Blaha (Taylor Bibbey); her nephew, Otto Holzheimer; and many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her brother, Christopher Blaha; her grandparents; and her beloved dog and constant companion, Tyson Jerome Bettis Blaha.

In Shannon’s memory, we encourage everyone to check in on the people they love and speak openly about mental health. If you or someone you know is struggling, help is available by calling or texting 988, the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. You are not alone.
