Like everyone else who knew her, I feel incredibly grateful to have met and known Shanita. Working together every summer at SES was a special experience, and I have many happy memories of having fun with her as we told stories, played games and watched over the campers. Even when I hadn't seen her or spoke to her in some time, the second we reconnected was just as easy as when we'd see each other daily, and I saw her share that same light with everyone she met. I'm sending my deepest condolences to her family and other friends, she was loved so dearly by all of you.

Shanita was always up for anything as long as it was fun. My friend was working at this club in Hollywood and Shanita flew in to visit so I asked if he could get us in. Somewhere there are more photos of this crazy night I wish I could find, I remember laughing a lot (as was always the case when with Shanita).

Shanita & Greg met Leland!
Shanita, we became friends during our time at MCAD while working with the Summer Expression Sessions (SES) crew. We spent almost every evening together on the MCAD lawn sharing stories, watching movies and TV shows, and connecting over music and art. You welcomed everyone into your world with the kindest smile and made everyone feel special with your big heart. The beauty, warmth and joy you brought to this world is unmatched. My heart is full of love for you and your family.

Shanita playing guitar. One summer we got together to play music in friend's practice studio. A memory I will always cherish.
I wish I could be there tomorrow to celebrate Shanita’s life and share memories in person, but I sincerely regret I won’t be able to make it. 💔 I’m sending my love and deepest condolences from afar.

She may have been 1000 miles away but her joy and love transcended space.
I remember when Shanita first came to church with Greg. They came into the gymnasium together and we were all so excited to meet her! She had a huge smile and soon she became a friend. I'm so glad Shanita and Greg found each other and will always be grateful for memories of knowing her.
Shanita, I miss you so much already. Although I only knew you for 6 months, it felt like we’d been friends for so much longer. You didn’t just magically fit at Black Sheep, you were molding the culture. You were humble, generous, smart as hell and a beacon of love on our team. You will be irreplaceable. Rest easy. Give your momma the biggest hug. And tell God hi for me.
