Shaina, I will always remember when Joanna and I first visited you at your dorm at Chico. We were still in high school and you were the cool college student! It was so fun hanging out with you listening to Panic! at the Disco and pretending we were in college with you. Visiting Chico then and in the years following wouldn't have been the same without you. You will be missed. Love, Jeanette
Such an amazing woman. There …

Such an amazing woman. There were many days we could be goofy and laugh at the world. This was a great picture of her great smile.
I will always remember Shaina as a bright light among shining stars. She had a personality that would instantly brighten anyone’s day. For me as director of the Instrumental Music Department at Arroyo High School, with my head into my job, it can be a bit hectic and demanding. If it were not for the happy students to brighten my day, life would be quite a challenge. Shaina could possibly be the brightest light of them all.

When I first met Shaina as a young freshman, perhaps I thought her too hyperactive for teenager, maybe a few too many soda drinks! But after seeing her grow and mature over her four years of high school, I found her enthusiasm, bright smile and silliness to be infectious. When we would pass each other int he hallways, she always put on a cheerful smile and gave me the sunniest greeting I could ever imagine! I was so used to her being there, that when she graduated and moved on, it had been as though a huge damper had been over us. The hallways and the cafeteria where we rehearsed seemed dimmer than usual. Whenever she returned to visit, seeing her fresh cheery face made everything as bright as before.

Shaina, my dear, if you are able to read this, I am sad and angry that you will be leaving us too soon. Yet, I need to remind myself that I count myself one of the lucky ones who had the good fortune of being graced with your cheerful presence. Thank you, Shaina, for being that cheerful light and giving me a reason to continue being a teacher. I know that you will be forever alive in my memory. I will cherish you as a beloved member of our Arroyo Music family. My heart and prayers go out to you and to your family and loved ones.

Goodbye, my dearest Shaina.

Musically yours,
Mr. M
