I updated the event details, but just in case you missed it...There will be a brief reception from 6-7 where we'll greet and mingle. Food and drinks will be provided. By 7 pm we would like everyone to gather in the back room. We will have some opening remarks, a song by Serina, and anyone who would like to share a story or memory to do it at this time.

I know everyone is worried about the weather. It looks like it will just be rain by the afternoon, so I hope everyone can still make it.
Also, people have asked about parking. Parking is available along the streets and a municipal lot is behind the Gingerbread man. PNC parking lot will be available at 7pm.

Most of you know that Serina donated 3 of her organs. I wanted to share the information that I received today from Cascade Life Alliance who took care of everything for me. All transplants were successful.
The right kidney was gifted to a woman in her forties and the left kidney recipient is a man in his fifties. People struggling with kidney disease have damaged kidneys that cannot filter blood the way they should. These recipients often live with a complex medication regime, dietary restrictions as well as a fear of their disease worsening. Prior to transplant, many patients face a grueling dialysis schedule or experience the fear of needing to start dialysis.
Serina's liver was donated to a married mother of three. She is in her forties, works at a law firm, and loves being outside in nature.
Serina's heart saved the life of a woman in her sixties. A person experiencing heart failure often suffers from dizziness, fatigue, and weakness, as well as rapid or irregular heartbeats. Often times, these recipients are so ill they spend a majority of their time in or near a hospital.

In honor of Serina, a cherry blossom has been placed on the Donor Memorial Tree mural in our office, which is dedicated to the memory of organ donors and their families. Each cherry blossom, placed on the tree by a member of our staff, represents a family who walked with us through the journey of organ donation.
