Sergey's obituary
Sergey Omelayenko, 40, of Tampa, FL passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025. Serge was born and grew up in Kharkiv, Ukraine, before moving to Gainesville, FL in 1999 with his family and finishing high school. He then moved to Tampa to attend USF in 2005 (inspired, he said, by the Tampa Bay Lightning's first Stanley Cup championship in 2004). He graduated as a Registered Nurse from USF in 2007, and as a CRNA in 2020. He brought a sense of joy and excitement to everyone's life he touched, including family, coworkers, friends, and classmates. He worked as a CRNA, most recently in Miami, where he helped to save many lives, as well as donating his time and experience to help those in Ukraine in 2022. He had a zest for life and enjoyed most anything active and outdoors, from kayaking and lobstering, to snow-skiing and bonfires. Serge will be dearly missed and always remembered.
He is survived by his parents (Mykola and Olga), brother (Alexander), sister-in-law (Liudmila) and nephew (Volodimyr). A celebration of life will be held in his honor as opposed to traditional funeral services. We request any of Serge’s loved ones to join us in celebrating his beautiful life at Lettuce Lake Park on August 2, 2025 at noon.
