Serenity's obituary
March 1, 2002 - October 6, 2025
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Serenity Walker, who left this world peacefully on October 6, 2025 surrounded by love.
Born on March 1, 2002, Serenity brought joy, laughter, and creativity to everyone who knew her. From the moment she entered this world, her rambunctious spirit and radiant smile lit up every room.Serenity was an artist in every sense of the word, expressing herself through makeup, fashion, and painting. Her work reflected her vibrant personality and unique way of seeing beauty in everything around her. She was also a soccer player, Girl Scout, and proud Young Marine, showing strength, leadership, and compassion beyond her years.
Serenity loved to travel and took every opportunity to explore new places. Her goal was to visit all 50 states, and she proudly made it to 33 and Canada. She also had a deep love for animals and the outdoors. Whether fishing or catching crawdads, frogs, and turtles, she found joy and peace in nature’s simple moments.Serenity loved deeply and unconditionally. She could always be counted on for honesty, a warm cuddle, or a burst of laughter that lifted everyone’s spirits. Her authenticity and courage inspired all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving mother Yolanda Walker, her father Gary Thomas Sr., her sister Amari Coleman and her grandparents Leon and Bettye Thomas. She was preceded in death by her beloved brother Gary Thomas Jr and her grandparents Sherman and Diane Walker.
Serenity was a loving niece to her uncles, always keeping them humble with her quick wit and playful humor. She also leaves behind a host of aunts and cousins who adored her deeply. To her younger cousins, she was more than family—she was like an aunt, spending time with them, sharing laughs, and spoiling them with love and attention.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Breakthrough T1D, supporting research and families affected by Type 1 diabetes—an organization close to Serenity’s heart.
Though her time with us was far too short, Serenity’s love, laughter, and strength will continue to inspire everyone blessed to have known her."She lived with grace, loved without limits, and left the world more beautiful than she found it."
