Seda's obituary
Sedik (Seda) Gregorian passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022, surrounded by the love, thoughts and prayers of her beloved family. Seda was born in Tehran, Iran on April 21, 1944, the 4th of 6 children of Tamar and Massis Esmaelian. She worked as a dental assistant when she met the love of her life, Shant Gregorian, in 1963 and they were married in 1966. Seda and Shant had two children in Tehran. Seda went on to be a dedicated schoolteacher there for several years and truly loved and cherished her students and was, in turn, loved by them.
In 1977 Seda and her family emigrated to Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Seda, who had always been skilled as a seamstress and dressmaker since childhood, began to make her living this way and eventually opened up her own shop in Great Valley, PA where she created beautiful quilts, custom bedding for baby nurseries bespoke gowns, and many other meticulously made crafts and tailored clothing for her clients for over 35 years. She took great pride in producing a beautiful product and bringing joy to her clients. One of the creations she was most proud of was that of her daughter's wedding gown in 2003.
Seda was a kind hearted woman who represented empathy and love. She loved her family fiercely and was always very expressive and passionate of this love - never holding back. She found inspiration in the sweetness and honesty of children, and always shared anecdotes of children's intelligence and humor. Those who knew her were well aware that her world revolved around her grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Her upbringing was modest, but Seda found wealth in her connections with kind people of all ages.
Seda was also an amazing cook who loved to nourish and feed her family and friends and filled her home with the warm scent of delicious Armenian and Persian cuisine. To this day, all who had the pleasure to eat in her home, including childhood friends of her adult children, still recount their memories of her warm hospitality and their favorite dishes.
Seda is survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Shant Gregorian, their two adult children Ara (Kim) Grigorian of Downingtown, PA and Melina Gregorian (Dan Garrett) of Novato, CA, 4 grandchildren Alex and Matthew Grigorian, Ronan Garrett, and Layni (Ryan) Beal, her 2 sisters, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family is grateful for the support of hospice for their care and loving guidance provided throughout the last several months.
A Celebration of Life memorial open to family and friends will be held in Spring 2023.
