Sean's obituary

With profound sadness, we officially announce the passing of Sean "Red" Kehr (any/all pronouns) on November 1, 2024. Known lovingly by many as Red, they were a vibrant, creative, and deeply loved member of our community. Sean was born on October 6, 1981, and despite their premature departure from this world, they lived a full and vibrant life, inspiring many with their spirit and their art.

Sean leaves behind a loving family, including their parents, Sandra and Robert, their siblings Vincent, Crystal, Tim, and Ryver, and their sister-in-law Bunny. Their absence leaves a void that can never be filled, but their presence in our lives has enriched us in ways that we will carry forward.

Education was a significant part of Sean's journey. They graduated with an AAOT (Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer) in Philosophy from Clackamas Community College in 2007, and later in 2011, they earned a B.S.(Bachelor of Science) in Philosophy from Portland State University. Their academic pursuits were not an end in themselves, as Sean loved learning for learning's sake and wanted to further their education even still, but also as a means to deepen their understanding of the world and their role in it.

Sean's love for art and community was equally evident in their professional life. They had started their own art business, "Ink Dreams Fine Art." Additionally, Sean showcased their artistic talent as a featured artist at the "Fourth Effin' Friday" Gallery Show at Refuge PDX in 2016. They were interviewed by multiple local art groups and featured in a couple of future "Fourth Effin' Fridays" going forward. Something Sean was extremely proud of. In 2017, Sean brought their infectious personality and love for gaming to a wider audience with Twitch streaming to try to meet new people and have fun.

That isn't the only incredibly fun way Sean met new people or shared their passions though! In 2012, they had founded the "Midweek Militia Game Club" with Vincent, Ryver, and Bunny to provide free/low cost space and activities to the greater Portland metro area in a hope to foster a community for those who might not have community in their lives as much as everyone deserves to. In 2015, they were one of the founders of the Philosophical Chain Gang and BSRV Media. In 2024 they started spending time with Puddle Cutters (moped army) and TwistnPlay Scooter Club. They became a Prospect within the wonderfully community-focused TwistnPlay Scooter Club that had brought them continuous joy into their life, on October 12th, 2024. Where, following their passing, they were honored as a posthumous member - a testament to their enduring impact on the club and its members whom they loved.

Sean loved art - especially abstract art, singing, going on adventures, nature photography, and spending time with loved ones. One of their absolute favorite colors I believe reflected their vibrant personality - pink. Hot pick especially.

Sean was witty, sweet, adventurous, generous, hilarious, artistic, ingenuitive, philosophical, goofy, and fun-loving - these words only begin to capture Sean's captivating personality that drew many of those who loved them in the end, into their world to begin with. It is something that rang through their life like the clear ring of a bell that the importance of finding oneself, finding one's people, and having a community was paramount.

In their passing, they leave behind a legacy of continuous self-improvement, kindness, and generosity. It always seemed Sean was truly happiest when they were contributing to their communities and their loved ones lives, a trait that won them love and respect from countless people. Their untimely passing is a tragedy, but the knowledge that they were at their happiest before they left us provides some much needed solace during these trying times.

The number of people who loved Sean is a testament to the incredible person they were, the incredible person they were ever becoming. Those of us who knew Sean when they passed are grateful to have known the fine human that Sean forged their self. Their legacy will continue to inspire those who knew them, and their spirit will live on through the communities they cherished.
