Scotty's obituary
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Scotty Guthrie SR., a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. Scotty was born on May 10, 1970, and peacefully left this world on his birthday, May 10, 2025. His life was a testament to his love for family, his passion for his work, and his zest for life.
Scotty is lovingly remembered by his wife, Melodie Guthrie, whom he married in 1988, and their three sons - Matthew Guthrie, Scotty Guthrie JR., and Tyler Guthrie( Desiree Wheaton). His memory lives on through his grandsons - Levi, Milo, and Otto Guthrie, as well as his mother, Marilyn Guthrie, and sister, Tamara Guthrie- Kuljis( Jack kuljis). As well as his many nieces and nephews.. and many friends that loved him. Scotty is predeceased by his father, Ronald Guthrie SR., and brothers - John, William SR., and Ronald Guthrie JR.
Known for his amazing cooking he had a particular love for chili Verde burritos, chicken chili, and jail house spreads. Scotty was not only an exceptional cook but also an outstanding painter who took great pride in his work. An avid fan of music, his favorites included ACDC, Lynard Skynard, Staind, Brooks and Dunn, and Red Hot Chili Peppers.
He was an enthusiastic sports fan, always cheering for the Seahawks and Mariners, his home teams. When not watching sports, he would be enjoying cop shows on TV, or movies like Wonderland, Blood in Blood Out, Black Mass, and Shark Week on Discovery. His fun-loving spirit shone through in his favorite activities, whether it was playing poker, pool, and blackjack or spending time with his loving family and grandchildren. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Starting in fall you could always find all the Guthrie men around a table exchanging hunting stories, and cleaning guns preparing for the trip to "our mountain" This was truly their home away from home. Scotty, as well as all his siblings lived for these moments with their father. We cherish all of these memories, and friendships that were made on that Mountain.
Scotty’s infectious laughter, loving nature, and caring personality will always be treasured by those who knew him. As well as his Innate ability to make anyone laugh. He truly was a comedian. Nothing brought him more pride or joy than his family, his greatest accomplishment. His legacy is the unending love he shared with his wife, children, and precious grandchildren.
We take comfort in knowing he joins his brothers and is now slaying all the elk on that beautiful mountain in heaven. He will be greatly missed by all.
