Scott's obituary
Scott LaMare Shaw, beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Murray, Utah. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on September 10, 1974, to Carl Lamar Shaw and Gail Parry Shaw.
Scott married the love of his life, Rebecca Espinosa Shaw, on October 3, 1996. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and family. Scott was a proud father to Jesellie, Kyriae, Jereck, and Kaydon, and a loving father-in-law to David Allen and Cristian Mora-Gonzalez. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jesellie, and his father, Carl. He adored his grandchildren—Mira Allen, and Ambrose and Leylia Mora-Gonzalez—who brought him immense joy.
Scott was a cherished brother to Lisa (Owen Lewis), Rebecca (Jeff Sawyer), Jennifer (Scott Hodges), Kevin (Ronda), Jeff (Natalia), and Cara Shaw. He was a beloved uncle to his nieces and nephews. Scott was also a loving brother and father to the many friends (his and his children’s) whom he welcomed into his home—friends who saw him as family.
Scott was known for his warm spirit and many talents. He worked for many years as a chef, rising to the position of executive chef at Bon Appétit. He shared his gift for creating excellent food with all who knew him. He had a deep passion for cooking and dreamed of starting his own food truck. He was also an active member of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), where he found joy in cooking feasts and participating in the community.
Outside of his work and hobbies, Scott loved singing—especially karaoke nights at home in his living room. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle, finding peace and freedom on the open road. Above all, Scott’s greatest joy was his family. He was an amazing papa, father, and husband, always giving love and laughter freely.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 9, at 10:00 a.m. at the LDS Church, 5422 South Sarah Jane Drive, Kearns, Utah.
Scott will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. His legacy of love, laughter, and good food will live on in the hearts of his family and friends.
